Law Capitol Rioter Megathread

Looks like someone's code name went from "Raptor" to "Flipper."

"Joshua James, 34, of Arab, Alabama, pleaded guilty to seditious conspiracy charges on Wednesday as part of deal with prosecutors contingent on his cooperation with the U.S. government in their ongoing prosecution of defendants who were involved in the Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol.

James pleaded guilty before the court to one count of seditious conspiracy and one count of obstructing an official proceeding in exchange for a reduced offense level, which the judge will consider at sentencing. James agreed to pay $2,000 under the agreement for the damages to the Capitol.

The agreement requires James to cooperate with federal authorities, testify before a grand jury, sit for interviews, and turn over an accounting of his financial assets.

The maximum penalty for seditious conspiracy is 20 years in prison, a fine of $250,000 and 3-year supervised release, along with other fees and penalties. James' cooperation can be used in determining his sentencing, presiding Judge Amit P. Mehta explained to the court.

Without James' full cooperation, as determined by the government, he will stand in violation of the agreement."

He's basically agreeing to probation and a fine, but this guy was so dangerous that they charged with a crime that carries 20 yrs? GTFO

I feel the same way about these idiots as I do Britney Griner, who is also an idiot. Dont want to do the time, dont do the crime, but the time for the crime is excessive.
The same as her getting 10 years for weed, 20 years is excessive for storming the Capitol if no violence occurred.

I'm for it but I'm still also waiting for BLM to be rounded up and incarcerated for looting their hoods after Saint George of Fentanyl granted them the grand theft card

You'll have to refer that one to former Pres. Trump as it was on his watch that he let all of that happen.

If they're coming at you for 20 years?

They got you dead to rights. Save yourself or eat the biscuit. That ain't no choice at all my man. Yeah, it sucks but you can't put yourself into a position where they can ream you like that.

They assaulted cops on federal property and now they have to pay the price.

Whatever happened to "Law & Order?"

Like all idiots - they get what they get and no sleep lost, but 44 months? This coming from the people that have DAs dropping resisting arrest charges on criminala daily.

Unless someone actually pre-planhed to overthrow the govt then 1-6 months, fines, and probation is plenty.

It's rough, boy is it rough.

Trump and his crew pre planned it including PBs and OKs. People attacking police and breaking into the Capitol were trying to disrupt the certification and threatening our lawmakers. 1-6 months for the people just breaking in might be fine but not for people that were violent.

I'm not a judge.

Attempting to stop the certification of a lawful election =/= hitting a cop.

You were complaining about assaulting a cop. Now you're trying to blow it up in to something it wasn't.

Lol, they don't say shit. That's not a court of law. No due process. You know, like the judge ruling you just referenced.

It's done under oath, so I'm giving credence to the testimony and that judge's decision. I may not agree with it, but "Law and Order", whether we agree with it or not.

there's no cross examination, there's no defense to present their side, there's no jury, there can be no verdict. this "hearing" that you've been salivating over is about as authentic as your favorite TV show...
