It wasn't at anyone's expense but not that I would care if it were, her priority should be Alberta. Just like you don't care if deals made in Ottawa hurt Alberta, of if BC or Quebec relentlessly block pipelines, cock blocking Alberta even at the cost of Canada's sovereignty. This is a sinking ship it's every man for himself now sorry.

One of Danielle Smith's goals for Carney is that larger provinces (Ontario, Quebec, BC, and Alberta) should receive no equalization payments.
Payment of equalization to Quebec is half of the pot (and Quebec has oil that it leaves in the ground); now there's a deal for a province at the expense of the rest of the country.
Poilievre sucks and democracy prevailed. Poilievre uses rhetoric and a style that imitates Trump, which is political kryptonite in this country, and he was too arrogant to pivot. He was ahead by a wide margin as recent as December, and the win was his to take, but he whiffed on a wide open net.
Carney is not Trudeau. Trudeau sucked when it came to the economy and I said he was done when the 2023 budget didn't include any meaningful investments in housing (even though the cities and provinces have more of a say in that). Carney's resumé is outstanding even compared to any leader of G7 country. I think Canadians understand Trump's threats not only affect the nation's sovereignty, but economic viability which would excacerbate affordability. Given his resumé on crisis management, he was the easy choice. Now contrast that with Poilievre who has no real world experience, and his record as an MP is considerably weak.
I'm sorry for your loss. It's easy to blame politicians for the deaths of loved ones but it's irrational. Me voting for Carney doesn't make me evil, but you're emotional so I don't think I'll move the needle with you on that.
Because it is full of young blue collar men who make more oil money than eastern bums can ever dream. That's why they leave their shit hole dreg provinces and move here by the thousands. Drugs and prostitution and crime thrive in such an environment, this is how It has always been tbh under Harper it was like that too. Now more dangerous drugs like fent and meth have really exasperated the situation. Also look at population demographics in the prairie provinces, how they differ from the rest of the country, and who happens to be significantly overrepresented, literally 10x the rate, in those province's prisons...
No I said it's tertiary to young guys with lots of disposable income. Always has been. Give a 20 year old all that money 2 weeks on in fort 1 week off in Edmonton they find all sorts of interesting ways to spend it.

Excuse my interjection, but while the scenario of a young blue collar worker with poor impulse control might describe Anthony Getschel running over former UFC fighter Ryan Jimmo, this scenario is a small minority of the violent crime that goes down in Edmonton.
Anthony Getschel has been sentenced to eight years in prison and will be prohibited from driving a vehicle for eight years after his release.

Here's an example of the type of crime that makes Edmonton a shithole city in Canada:
Man accused in fatal Edmonton shooting completed accessory to murder sentence weeks earlier
"Jerad Wuttunee, 36, was charged earlier this month in the shooting death of 52-year-old Darrell Demchuk. Court records show Wuttunee was among a group of four adults previously charged with first-degree murder in the deaths of two people in January 2021.
The four accused each pleaded guilty to lesser accessory charges, including Wuttunee, admitting only to assisting with the attempted clean-up of the crime scene to remove evidence. The murder charges were stayed.
When Wuttunee was sentenced on Dec. 19, with credit for nearly two years he'd already spent in jail, he was left with 64 days in his sentence, according to court information.
Demchuk was shot and killed on the night of April 6.
The Edmonton Police Service also charged 45-year-old Brandon Herry with first-degree murder in the case. When they announced the arrests on April 15, EPS said the two accused and Demchuk don't appear to have known each other.
Court records show Herry and Wuttunee have additionally been charged with arson for allegedly damaging a vehicle on the same day as the homicide.
According to EPS, the shooting happened around 10 p.m. in the area of 66th Street and 38th Avenue — a major intersection in southeast Edmonton that also includes the Valley Line's Millbourne/Woodvale station."
Cliffs: Asshole gets sentenced to 3 years for accessory to torture murder of 2 people (All 4 torture murderers get 2-3 years apiece because it is unknown who did the stabbing), gets out and almost immediately murders a random guy near an LRT stop. I'm pretty sure that most of asshole's resume is gang member.

It's not the core of the issue. Edmonton has a violent crime problem that dates back to its founding and has two essential ingredients:
#1 High proportion of natives with historical grievances
#2 Alcohol used by #1
Even if you crush the illicit drug trade a la Singapore, you will still have the violent crime problem.

That's part of it but it's not ALL natives. I'd say they're for sure responsible for a lot of low level violent crime, armed robberies, stranger attacks, etc, but other criminal groups deserve a lot of blame as well. Asian gangs and biker gangs are very prominent, across all Western Canada really. Historically the high profile homicides are from them fighting over the very lucrative drug trade which they dominate. They fuel a lot of misery here.
Definitely never be like Singapore or Dubai or something your right, scummyness is too engrained in the culture, vast swaths of the city are pretty awful.
but seeing as I don't live there I thought maybe I'd ask and someone would just answer the fucken question instead of making allusions, ah well never mind I'm not bothered enough

I know it's not all natives, but the native demographic is the most significant difference between high violent crime Canadian cities (Edmonton, Saskatoon, Regina, Winnipeg) and low violent crime Canadian cities (Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal, Quebec City). Part of the reason that Toronto is low violent crime is that its massive number of immigrants (plenty of Asians there) has diluted the native component. To a lesser extent, it is the reason that 1M population Edmonton has less violent crime than 100,000 population Lethbridge and Red Deer.
Yeah PEI is really pathetic, embarrassing really. Can't even provide for themselves. The men that want to work have to flee elsewhere like migrants from India or something, the rest are on welfare. Imagine looking at that chart and thinking Alberta will continue forever with such a parasitic relationship.
CBC is reporting that since Canadian - US relations are seriously damaged Canada is looking elsewhere for military equipment suppliers, and one such country that is eager to capture the business is South Korea.
Violence/Genocide: Do not condone violence or genocide on a person or group of people. You are free to attack a person or groups ideas but you are crossing the line when calling for violence. This will be heavily enforced in threads with breaking news involving victims.
