Can you really be the BMF Champ

I thought he won the first 2 rounds and was close to pulling away but then shit happened. I think he would win a rematch.

Max is not seeing strikes as well moving backward. The guy has been fighting since he was 16. I hope he's getting paid out the ass in these BMF fights. He should retire soon. He was doing well, but I don't think he wins a rematch.

Love Max, but this looked bad against Ilia.

Technically... Yes.
Champ is BAD at fucking mom.
It's assumed he isn't "the best" mahfk.

Legitimately in the name.

Regardless of the thread title, the intent is to make Max look like a lesser than for not throwing down one second into a big fight when power punching isnt a specialty of his. It's as dumb as it would have been for Max to do it. I know Ilia's nards are in your stomach at this point, but I didn't think they blinded you as well, lol.

Hopefully Ilia starts fighting more than once every ten months. When he's 32 fights in, I wonder if he'll be earning title shots. He'll be almost 40 by then at this rate.

Yeh, the nards are deep.

No chance Ilia has 32 fights. I think he has like 5 maximum. Max will probably still be fighting then lol.

You can't point at the center 3 seconds into round 1, that's not how that works.

Topuria has otherworldly power and unproven cardio. We don't know how it holds up over 5 rounds. It would be foolishness for Max to stand and trade with him in the pocket that early in the fight.
Whats even worse is waiting until the last 10 seconds of the fight at act like you axtually trying to knock someone out. But for the other 24 mins and 50 seconds Max was just pillow fisting you.

In the context of retarded BMF belt Topuria has a point, he originally made this argument before the fight. I think other BMF contenders like Nate, Masvidal, Oliveira, and Gaethje walk forward and trade. Oliveira pretty much did and it went terribly for him.

However...Max would have been stupid to engage right away and it doesn't look bad, just smart. Max didn't fight scared or anything after that. If he was running away like Kalib Starnes it would be different.

Sure you can.
Topuria went 5 rounds with Emmett.
That being said it's a whole different world fighting someone for 5 rounds you don't totally control. And Topuria was a little bit tired in the 5th.

He has stated that he is the best boxer in the UFC, if he really believes this and is truly the Baddest Muther Fucker out there then he has to accept the offer and prove it.

Holloway trash talk is cringe. “I’m the best boxer”, “I’m him”. But then he declines Ilia’s invite. That’s after Topuria publicly offered it to him, saying let’s see if you’re a BMF or a pussy.

If you’re a BMF and someone calling your name in the street, do or die you have to meet them there.

My sherdog shookology experteez says Ilia stole and mocked Max's gimmick there, which created an Ilia-controlled frame. Had Max accepted it, he would've put himself into context of submission, he would've been playing by Ilia's rules. Not very bad ass to be controlled by another man. Especially if you weigh the outcomes:

Max gets clipped - baited, ridiculed, beaten - the whole shindig is nothing but humiliating.

Max clips Ilia - certainly better than the actual outcome, but there would remain an uncertainty about the fight, it would be easy to write this off as Ilia just being dumb and getting caught, and it would also stamp a lingering dudebro expectation on Max to have him do this, frankly, stupid shit in every fight. The whole point why the pointing to the ground at the end of a fight is awesome is that Max is so much more technical and skilled than other guys that he can afford to lower himself to a dumber level and still win, taking the very last excuse away from his opponent. Doing this at the start of the fight completely goes against the awesomeness of it all. Making it stupid.

If anything, this was excellent in the moment decision making by Max.

There's more to boxing than stand & bang at close range.

Max is one of my favorite fighters and I kind of agree to be honest. I mean, he was smart doing what he did probably and the BMF title wasn't on the line so he gets a bit of a pass from me on this one, but still, you could say the BMF would engage there, especially that pointing to the ground is what Max does.

Imagine reducing the sport to this level of cringe.

The BMF title is an embarrassing joke and it's hilarious to see people talk seriously about it.

Max was winning before getting caught, but y’all ain’t ready to have that conversation.
Ah the classic winning before he lost to discredit the other guy while ignoring the fact your guy went into the shadow realm.
He was winning before he got Knocked Out? OK, hopefully he gets a trophy for that or something.
And owned. I hate the they were winning till they weren't argument, it's a fight and all that matters is..... Dum dum dum who actually wins!!!!!!! Holy shit!!!!!!!!!
