Can we take a sec to appreciate how screwed up the HW division is?

Francine bitched out on himself whilst jones also ducked him.

Those two were never going to fight ever.

1. UFC did not cheap out on Francis. It was reported that he was offered one of the largest contracts in UFC history. He walked away because he wanted to box. Things have worked out well for him. Looks unlikely that he'll ever actually compete in PFL at this point.
2. In what way is Jon Jones disputed as UFC HW champ? Also he hasn't refused to unify the belts. He's currently injured and Aspinal didn't become interim until after he was injured. So that's an asinine statement.

Otherwise, good post!

That contract was for 3 fights, at $8 million (which they paid Brock for one fight) and if he lost to Jones that number would've went down.

That contract sucked 10 dicks.

They should replace the interim champ belt with a HW BMF belt so the division and the fans can move on past Jones and his charade of a vanity project.

LW doesn't have lineal champ since Khabib left, MW and WW doesn't have since GSP left etc. Remember just like Francis they never lost the belt.
Magumbo fanboys makes no sense as always

It's screwed because the UFC is content with everyone just sitting around. UFC was fine with waiting on Stipe before Jon got injured and now they are fine with waiting on Jon to recover while Tom is now fine with sitting out until he fights for the belt and Gane is fine with doing the same.

A hypothetical interim title fight for Ciryl Gane next would certainly make a case for a shallow division.

He is. He’s fairly unskilled but makes up for it with a good chin and surprising speed. Hes capable of beating numerous top heavyweights.
Might win a few unexpected fights but he will absolutely never be champ or close

Francis, Jones, Stipe, Aspinal, Gane, Almeida, Blaydes, Pavlovich and Volkov all trash him. So no, he's not anywhere near the upper echelon.

His best 3 wins are Lewis, Sakai and Greg Hardy, and he's 0-3 in his last fights when he got a step up. That tells you everything.

Some bad takes on sherdog are defendable, but this one isnt

all right fair enough, tuivasa highly unlikely to win the title.

But no need to be so elitist about it. He lost 3 fights to top ufc heavyweights.

Overall though yer right he’s a fairly poor example of good ufc heavyweight fighter

Come on now. Everyone knows Jon Jones is ducking Aspinall. Yes he's currently injured but when he's back he's going to fight Stipe then retire. Jones has openly admitted that Aspinall is a risky fight that doesn't do much for his legacy.

Im not trying to be elitist haha, I just think the HW division has gotten a bit deeper in the last year and Tuivasa's sprawl n brawl doesnt cut it anymore

But I agree with your take that HW is definitely more interesting than in recent years l. If only Francis could comeback and Jones not retire, it would be wild
