I would have liked to see Izzy even ask for the fight just to get his revenge but he didn't ask for it. he wants to wait him out. he's ducking out of fear.

It's a bit funny that you take such a rigid stance against "Izzy Fanboys" but are equally one sided.

If Izzy fights Alex in his first fight and wins then its a guy who never fought MMA before. If the UFC allowed it and Alex wins they have a guy who wins the belt in his first fight. Now they have the Kickboxers > MMA fighters.

Could Alex beat Izzy in the cage? Yes. Is being a good style match up against one guy worthy of a title shot? No. Izzy has fought wrestlers, strikers, grapplers and guys with a mix of all 3. Denis Hallman never got a title shot vs Matt Hughes and its not because Matt Hughes didn't demand it (he didn't) its because he never earned it.

As for why Izzy left kickboxing for MMA. Could it have to do with money? He won the Glory MW tournament and how much did that pay? Also FYI he started MMA in 2012. That happens to be long before he retired from kickboxing. But don't let facts get in the way your your rant.

Are you being dense on purpose? Israel just said it is premature to talk about title shots. I am not even an Israel fan and I know it's stupid to give an absolute no name a title shot after a win in the prelims. It makes absolutely no sense to do. From a rankings stand point or an entertainment standpoint.

Alex has been fighting/training mma for 7 years, he's just been more active in kickboxing.

izzy didnt have a ufc contract and was doing both until alex kod him so bad he decided to never kickbox again. I never said Izzy never did mma until alex kod him but he didnt have a ufc contract at that time either. its very obvious why he chose to focus on mma after that ko.

it does make sense. he has one blemish on his record and can get the ufc to agree to the fight. if he knows he will win, who cares about anything else? its not like there's a bunch of intriguing fights in the division especially now after he beat whittaker, again.

Like I said, he's ducking. expect more of the same after silva loses this saturday.
 
After running through Phillips, McKee, Meerschaert, and ranked Jingliang, Dana still came out and said there was no chance that Khamzat's next fight would be for the belt. He's not going to give Pereira a title shot for his 7th pro MMA fight without beating ranked opposition.

If you want a title shot for your third UFC fight, you've got to be a proven commodity like Jiri and violently end a top 10 guy and a top 5 guy respectively.

lol funny mma fans think because someone is a pro fighter that they never duck fights. boxers are notorious for this. the mma landscape is a little bit different because after awhile, you can't keep denying someone a title shot. you have to retire or vacate the belt and go inactive to escape them.

Either way, let's see what Izzy says after Silva gets finished on saturday.

yea but then these guys would be using that as an excuse "of course he lost, it's Adesanya that he'd beat" type of argument. i already know how these bozos play. you can already see this dude is readying built in excuses. he already alluded to how Peireira is getting older and that the years past 30 are huge drop offs even tho he admitted they're only 2 years apart.

what would really be the best is if he fought Adesanya, and then Adesanya just took him down and submitted him or gnp him.

How is he ducking a guy who is nowhere near a title shot? Where did I mention ducking? You said he was scared. Keep laughing to yourself.
 
Izzy wants his contenders to run the gauntlet in the sport and deserve their shot, is that now a bad look for the champ lmao? If Peireira is this badass he’ll get there anyway right? Does he deserve to skip every guy and challenge just because he beat Izzy in another sport?

And if you dont have confidence in him getting there you’re basically admitting that in your opinion he’ll lose the belt fairly quickly and that you’re only interested in potentially seeing Izzy lose.

Also hilarious how its “damned if you do, damned if you dont” in this sport. If he had fast-tracked Pereira, people would claim that he wants Pereira while hes still green in MMA and that hes ducking other guys like Khamzat or whatever random bs.

I don't think anyone would disagree with him fighting a top 10 next, a top 5 after that and then getting a title shot. Some people in here are talking like he should get the title fight after this weekend if he wins and that is insanity.

Alex is a fight or 2 away from Izzy. He was specifically brought in to fight Izzy. He'll get the white glove treatment when it comes to matchmaking and chaperoned to a fight with Izzy.

Yes, but the thread is related to the other one where Izzy is not really wanting the fight according to Alex. Izzy called out Romero and the UFC made the fight. If Izzy really wanted the fight more than any other fight, I’m sure the UFC would make that fight if Alex has an impressive win this weekend.

This isn’t just some top 20 scrub. But a guy that beat Izzy twice before in a related combat sport. That fight practically sells itself. Let alone the shit talk already coming out. It’s easily the most interesting fight in the division. If rankings and shit don’t really matter, then make the most exciting fight available “if the champ really wants it”.

I just want to see the fight. I think alex would win but its not a sure thing. I do feel like izzy is scared about it tho
