Yeah because he knows what’s up and I have no doubt Izzy will take a nap if this fight takes place unless he turns into a panic wrestler

They had to get someone on really short notice. I always find it weird when fans act like short notice fights weren't exactly that, a short notice replacement to save a fight and it wasn't even the main event. Also, it was during the peak of Rousey's ppv selling ability so they were already going over the top for the event with the whole olympian vs olympian thing and trying to promote the event. It's seems all very simple and easy to understand, ya know, them promoting a fight.

And lol at people saying the UFC champ is scared, that always comes off as such a stupid thing to say.
 
Alex is a scary match up of Izzy and lost twice already. I totally understand why Izzy would have some real fears going on.

I wonder, if anyone thinks Izzy made enough improvements vs Alex to beat him now? Or if Izzy matches up better in a MMA style fight? Because I do not see either but in that 2nd fight Izzy showed a speed advantage in the hands and over hand Right but still managed to get caught for a KO. They fought last in 2017...so 5 years is a bit of time to improve.

It makes absolutely zero sense for Izzy to take a fight with that much risk, when as of right now, Pereira isn't an established fighter on the UFC roster yet. It's just not a smart career move at all and he would be an idiot for taking it so soon.

well you admit how dangerous of a fight it is and he's apprehensive to take it. he'd have nothing to gain besides avenging the KO that made him retire from kickboxing and he's not that confident about it.

I mean, don't you think izzy would care? He got kod brutally and retired from kickboxing, his first sport. He has the opportunity for revenge. He doesn't call for the fight. Very questionable

you're totally right but the Yoel matchup doesn't even count that was a replacement for the costa fight. He was off with a torn bicep and the ufc asked who he wanted.

I wouldn't say anything. I really had no interest in vettori or whittaker rematch, Id rather have seen him fight alex. I think it'll happen soon either way

you can't offer title fights to fighters not in the top 10, it is factually ducking.
 
I'm gonna assume Izzy is scared of him like Anderson Silva is scared of Ryo Chonan

your memory is very off. Pat cummings was replacement for the rashad evans fight and pat took that fight on like a weeks notice

that's fair. Notice though, I never said that Alex automatically deserves a shot.

I said UFC would book it if Izzy really wants it. After Alex beats Silva, Izzy could get the UFC to book the fight but I doubt it. Alex will have to win another fight or 2.

Do I know for a fact Izzy is scared? No of course not, I'm not in his brain. I don't even know that he's never asked for the fight. He may have behind the scenes and its being kept quiet. I do think he obviously retired from kickboxing because Alex rattled his brain really good.

I just wanted to trigger all the Izzy fans and have a thread go multiple pages. mission accomplished.

btw, I'm the first to admit I don't think anyone in the mw division right now can beat Izzy besides maybe Alex. Cannonier or Strickland might be able to but itd be a big surprise.
 
Most casuals don't know who he is. It's just hardcores.

here you can watch this and see izzy's reaction to the fight and what he says. He insinuates that it's a good thing and he needs alex as a draw because they have a history. he's out of contenders soon and he knows this fight can sell.

my memory may be faulty at times (I am being generous here)... but for useless details (i.e. MMA), it is just about perfect :D

Yes, he was (short notice)... but my point was that he was not even an UFC fighter.
Matter of fact, he was a barista at the time he got the call from the UFC to fight DC.

And if they can take someone from the street to fight a top name, they can obviously pick Alex to fight Israel (if Israel was hungry to avenge his loss). I am pretty sure of it.

as another example, we have Joe Soto coming to the UFC with one day notice to face none other than T.J. Dillashaw for the BW belt when Barao fell sick during weight ins.
Joe was fighting for Tachi Palace (?) until then.

So again, it proves a newcomer can fight for the belt if there's a need or a history behind it.

yeah, getting put out cold isn't the same thing. I also never said it means he earned a title shot. I said Izzy could get the fight made if he wanted it. Doesn't seem like he wants to until he has no choice
