Can we finally appreciate AI art without getting into conundrums about the supposed end of human creativity?

Wait until 90% of the population is unemployed and relying on government bucks to survive; I doubt you'll be so happy about it then. Relying on the state also means something else: they have you by the balls. "Our records show that you missed your 24th space plague booster injection; your funds have been deactivated. Please present yourself to the nearest injection center immediately to resume societal participation."

Well you don't want to catch Space Plague got to look after granny, she might catch it!!!

Besides you plebs don't know what's good for you and we're limiting you to 2 billion on this planet and be happy about the 2 units of alcohol you get a week!!!

I never said I was massively pro or anti AI, in principal.

Like with almost all debates, there is always going to be a middle ground, but all the tards insist on being militant about it one way or another.

To rule it out as 100% evil, is obviously just dumb. It already helps us in our every day lives, and has the potential to be a very useful tool if used intelligently and responsibly (big if).

Technology has threatened jobs as long as there has been jobs, and yet the work force continues to survive, just like it will with AI.

I understand your viewpoint, I just think it's naive.

In a scenario where advanced AI can replace most jobs, the organizations that will hold all the leverage will be the tech corporations and governments/militaries that own the intellectual rights to the AI. You, as an ordinary citizen, will have no negotiating power at all. You won't own the AI. Historically, strikes and work boycotts were some of the only actually effective methods through which ordinary citizens could leverage their power against their rulers. You won't even have that anymore. When has a corporation not taken advantage of their leverage against people to make more profit? Never, they always capitalize. Your sole economic value will be relegated to being a passive consumer.

Sounds like a splendid idea, care to join me??

Seems a little over-dramatic to me, especially short term. The majority of jobs ain't gonna disappear, we are still going to rely on humans to do most things. If anything AI will just be used as a tool to make things easier and more efficient (like the internet has done).

.......until the robots break free and murder us all.

I wish more understood like you...... This is a huge problem coming.....

I have a lot of artist friends and when everybody was doing that trend of getting AI selfies (myself included) they kicked up a big fuss about it saying AI is stealing artists works to compile each piece. I don’t care honestly. I have fun playing with AI art but I still buy and commission from my favorite artists (which I think on now and realize none of those ones whined. Huh). Anyways, here’s AI pretending I’m hot:

My friends did it too and AI likes to take your selfies and give you massive tits. Confirmed AI is a man~

Oh. I’m not posting my AI tits btw.

But here’s some sloppy pictures that I liked:

Having watched this style of creation grow from barely recognizable boobs and terrors straight from some psychotic nightmare tow hat it is now is just a few years, it's gonna be fun seeing how far it goes over the next few. Human hands are still a major issue, but are getting better slowly. If I had to guess, within 5 years most commercial art you see will be AI made and quickly touched up on Photoshop.

So it can't do eyes or hands...... Great

It it’s robbing human creativity to create its pictures

It is both robbing and bestowing.

It allows people who lack the ability and/or time to produce images vastly superior than what they could have or would have otherwise.

But sure I think it cheapens the craft. Such is the nature of automation.

literally nothing could be further from the truth. you would have to be a miserable person with no interior life for you to feel that way

Name a modern artist from the past 20 years that has done anything meaningful for humanity.

All the artists screeching about AI art draw porn for commissions.

Artists create art, and art is one of, if not the most, meaningful things that humanity does.

Also, artists are not just painters. Or people in other visual mediums. Art is music, storytelling, writing, dancing, painting, drawing, illustrating, rhetoric, fighting, architecture and many other things. Art is human emotion made manifest and transformed into the transcendental. Art gives our lives meaning. Art gives our lives beauty. I would argue that art is meaning itself, and the two terms are interchangeable.

So to ask "name a modern artist from the past 20 years that has done anything meaningful for humanity", basically just demonstrates to me that you have no understanding of the human experience. Neither your own, nor anyone else's.

Bro this is an ai art thread, clearly we are talking about the visual graphic medium, why are you are bringing up music, dancing, and architecture.

You didn’t name anyone because the only debatably notable artist from the past 20 years is like.. Banksy, who uses stencils and does gags for attention.

Have been to an art show lately? They are hilarious mockeries of contemporary art. Maybe some of what you said could apply 30 years ago, but are you really saying the current art landscape produces anything transcendental?
