When Adesanya is in his safe game, he usually relies on the fact that he can damage an opponent with leg/high kicks, and duck any offence/counter.
Strickland might be the most aggressive, coming-forward opponent of his since Romero. Unlike Romero though, he has a veyr high volume of jabs and combos, and he also might mix it with takedowns (rarely but happens).

I'm not sure that Adesanya can dodge it all. Strickland has an ability to outwork opponents, even if judges don't always see it (like in Cannonier fight)
Maybe Adesanya should aim for the finish, as Stricklands chin is far from being iron...

Israel enjoys a reach advantage over most opponents. He has never been jabbed away by a shorter opponent. Strickland is also very basic with his kicking. He is predominantly a puncher. I don't believe Israel has to aim for the finish. Izzy can outwork him in a sparring match. There isn't much of a threat in terms of power by Strickland.

I believe Strickland will put his usual pressure on early, get countered heavily, and Izzy will circle out and reset. A number of cycles of this will start to frustrate Strickland because it is the majority of his strategy. Can't see this being a favorable performance for Strickland and I'll be surprised if he lasts the duration.

Another angle is that Strickland can shit talk during the match and Izzy, although very well composed in the cage, can be an emotional teenage Honda wreck if gotten to.

On paper, should he an easy walk in the park for Izzy, but could see an unexpected upset like we’ve seen before with underdogs just having a number on that day.

It didn't take long for Alex to set Strickland up. Izzy has an elite setup game too, as we all know - he set up Alex in the most recent fight.

I'm not sure Strickland has the cleverness to avoid the inevitable trap Izzy will be laying for him to walk into, especially when walking forward is the guy's go to strategy.

Strickland is the best striker that Adesanya will have faced in the UFC. This isn't Whittaker. People forget that Strickland was outstriking Pereira before he got caught. Pereira also said that Strickland beat his ass when they trained together.

I don't think Strickland gives him problems anywhere. He doesn't have the power to give Izzy pause, and doesn't have the footwork to get far enough inside to generate any real offense. I think Izzy styles on him here.

Adesanya faced Pereira in the UFC? Are you saying Sean is a better striker than him?

Strickland wining the fight in the 156 seconds it took for Pereira to dispose of him is not a great argument for him being a good striker either . Lmao

I’ll be surprised if Strickland lands anything significant. When he closed the distance, Adesanya will smack him up with sharp punches and longer reach. When he’s outside the punching range, Adesanya will kick his legs. Maybe occasional high kick.

The worst match up for Strickland. At least he gets paid….

He gets paid, right?

Strickland is way too slow and flat footed, I think Adesanya will just leg kick him like crazy and win a unanimous decision. I expect lots of leg kicks and some body kicks from Adesanya and the odd head kick thrown in now and then and he will be too fast and accurate. Strickland is tough though and I think he won't get finished but Adesanya will win a clear decision.

I doubt it. Izzy is a very seasoned counter striker. Alex cornered him with pressure because he had the skill to combat Izzy’s skill in the process. I don’t see Stricklands style emulating that
