Best MW’s of all time

What you said at the end is correct— what’s the point of discussion if you’re just going to “imagine” it’s some other way? Yes, Khamzat is undefeated, but at MW he’s got Meerschaert (not elite), Usman (elite but a WW), Whittaker, and DDP. He’s really got 2 good MW wins. Two. But since you believe he’d beat all these people and do all these things, you rank him as if he already has. It’s silly.

RDR has just Whittaker and I guess Holland. Personally, I think you’re out of your mind if you think he gets by guys like Vitor, Hendo, or Mousasi in their prime. But regardless, he needs to put together a body of work in the division that’s worthy of being ranked in the top 10 all time.

We could debate the order, but he list should consist of Anderson Silva, Izzy, Weidman, Mousasi, Whittaker, Vitor, Hendo, Rockhold, maybe DDP, Franklin…

Khamzat, Poatan, RDR, Strickland, and Fluffy Hernandez (are you kidding lol?) have no business being anywhere near this list.
You’re very dishonest about Usman. Historically WW have done incredibly well at MW ( GSP, Whittaker, Khamzat). One could even argue WW>MW. Usman is a huge WW and definitely is an elite win even at MW. Khamzat also effortlessly dispatched Holland who was a top10 MW not long ago. You’re grasping straws. For anyone without an agenda it’s clear Khamzat is the best.

What do you have against Strickland? He has a great resume- Izzy, Costa, Imavov, Hall, Hermansson, Allen, Abus Magomedov. He went to split decisions with DDP and Cannonier and got finished by Poatan. No shame in that

All on his decline

Prime Luke (2010-15) was an entirely different animal
He got KO’ed by Vitor in that period, so my point still stands. He never had good hands or defence. His style was really weird actually, he had elite kicks and elite BJJ. No boxing or wrestling to rely on is a recipe for disaster. Luke only has like 5 good wins, he’s overrated AF

Here’s my pick for the best MW’s of all time, based on their skill, attributes and likelihood of beating others.

1. Khamzat Chimaev

Honestly, it ain’t even close. Current version of Khamzat beats any MW that ever lived. His wrestling is unmatched, great BJJ and pretty good striking with actual one punch KO power

2. DDP

As weird as it looks, but the man is highly effective in the octagon and he’s incredibly strong. Can outstrike the best in the world and he’s also a very good offensive grappler

3. Anderson Silva

One of the best strikers to ever fight at MW. Poor wrestling, but dangerous of his back

4. Israel Adesanya

Incredible striker, great footwork and TDD. His BJJ isn’t all that good though

5. Chris Weidman

Probably the most well rounded MW we ever had. His fight IQ and timing was questionable though and got him in a lot of trouble

6. Alex Pereira

The most lethal striker at HW ever. He was pretty one dimensional though

7. Sean Strickland

Great boxing, pretty well rounded, probably the best striking defense at MW. Doesn’t have finishing ability and sometimes lacks urgency during the fights

8. Robert Whittaker

Very well rounded, tough as nails, but not the best at anything. Got outstruck by the best striker and got outwrestled by the best wrestler

9. RDR

Amazing BJJ, solid kickboxing and just huge for the weight class.

10. Anthony Hernandez

Might be to soon to tell as he hasn’t faced anyone elite yet, but the combination of his high level BJJ, scrappy boxing and insane stamina makes him very dangerous.

Honourable mentions: Luke Rockhold, GSP, Romero, Bisping, Rich Franklin, Jacare
Prime Anderson not #1?

Prime Anderson not #1?
<36>
Khamzat would likely maul prime Anderson.

Anderson was always a threat to finish a fight even when he was getting wrestlefucked though, like against Newton and Chael, so can't count him out completely.

anderson would sub khamzat from the bottom
He only ever subbed (talking about top 5 opponents) from his back Chael Sonnen (who didnt understand the rules at the time and tapped by mistake) who got subbed like 10 times in his career

He is not beating Khamzat on the ground lmfao

He finished the Michael Jordan of BJJ from his back tho

Luke knocked down Machida with a punch and his wrestling was definitely legit. lol you re such a moron get another hobby

Whats the argument for DDP over Anderson lmao. DDP would get pieced the fuck up 100 times out of 100

He suddenly forgot how to box? Lol
He was never a strong boxer, but he always had good footwork and movement. when he slowed down he paid the price because defensively he's lacking, He relied too much on speed and not enough on positioning

Chimaev beat 2 real ranked guys in mw you can't put him first place

Lol, Anderson of his back is as dangerous as Kevin Holland. Khamzat would submit Andy without any hesitation, like those Japanese cans that submitted him. Whittaker’s TDD is much better than Anderson’s and it didn’t matter against Khamzat.
they say prime andersons ground game is almost as good as his striking

theres a reason hes always comfortable standing
because if he gets taken down hes dangerous on the ground

This thread is comical. Khamzat and DDP as the best MWs ever lol.

Khamzat would get beaten by Weidman, Rockhold, Romero and Jacare......and Anderson as well, yes.

white belt energy in a thread not started by a white belt. fascinating.

ive seen this before but i dont have a name for this phenomenon. any suggestions, Sherbros?

also prime Anderson gasses Khamzat out and TKOs him

The thing about Khamzat is you really don't know how good he is cause he's mostly faced very favorable match ups to his skill set. Let's be honest, guys like DDP, Li, Holland, and Whitaker aren't exactly grappling masters. The only time we've seen him vs a very good wrestler and grappler was vs Usman which over 3 rounds was a very competitive fight. I think one guy had it 28-28. And that was a guy moving up on 10 days notice who was a career WW.

Considering you have elite level grapplers like Weidman, Jacare, Rockhold and Romero in there, I don't see Khamzat doing too well. I highly doubt he's even in the top 10 all time best MWs.
