Can Roy Nelson KO Cheick Kongo?

He probably can, but I think it's much more likely that Kongo presses a warn out Nelson against the cage for 15 minutes.

edit: wow, reading through the comments, I am shocked how many people think this is going to be an easy win for Roy... sure he hits hard, but probably not harder than Barry or Hunt and his striking isn't nearly as good. Kongo should be able to soundly out wrestle Roy, and even though Kongo's TDD isn't great he is very good at getting back up once taken down. I think this should be an easy but very boring win for Kongo if he's smart about it.

tbh both Mir and Monson are great grapplers, like really good.

Yes*. And my point was, Nelson isn't. He's not a bad grappler by any means, just not great. The top wrestlers and BJJ guys can take him, and the Rothwells, Arlovskis, Cro Cops and other non-top grapplers can at least deal with him.
If Kongo could survive hurricane Velasquez for three rounds, he can survive Nelson on the ground. Or possibly even get the better of him, assuming he gets a favourable position.

*Mir is, at least. Not so sure about Monson, especially not at HW.

Yeah I think so, if he doesn't KO him, then he'll likely rock him, drop him and then sub him. I don't see this fight going past the first honestly.

unless Kongo can get a sold enough punch or kick to KO Nelson, I think he goes down. I want to see a TD from Nelson.

Kongo will be getting knocked out for sure he keeps his hands low, his head high and his chin isn't very durable, add that all up and factor in Roy Nelson's power and you have a ba night for Kongo

Hope he does, Kongo needs to be punished for that travesty with Shawn Jordan.

Big Country knocks everyone out. Especially Kongo.

But... not Frank Mir?

I definitely think Roy should be the favorite, but I've seen crazier shit happen.

Cheick was on the winning end of some of that crazier shit.

after seeing nate diaz go down, i got a funny feeling that those who rarely get ko'ed, are going to..

Nate didn't really ''go down'' tho he lost his equilibrium and got pounded out he got up as soon as the ref stopped it looking unfazed just got caught in the right spot imo..

Kongo has the best recovery that I've ever seen. I don't that the guy can go out cold and when he gets hurt, he keeps moving around.

1 Take down
2 Crucifix
3 Put the Belly on him
4 Tiny Punches
5 Win

In that order.

I don't see Kongo having much luck standing or on the ground (especially not the ground), but the only fighter to stop Kongo with strikes has been Mark Hunt.

Classic case of a fighter's record being less important than what we actually see in their fights. You've got to remember that Kongo was almost put out by Pat Barry and that Frank Mir of all people rocked him before getting a submission. Nelson can definitely finish him if he lands. Kongo has won most of his fights by being in clinch range and avoiding taking bombs. His chin has definitely appears weak during the times we've seen it tested.
