Can Roy Nelson KO Cheick Kongo?

I don't see Kongo having much luck standing or on the ground (especially not the ground), but the only fighter to stop Kongo with strikes has been Mark Hunt.

Nelson by decision? Or maybe sub?

Stop using Wikipedia and look at his last couple of fights...Kongo doesn't have the strongest chin

Nelson's not the best HW in the world but he can really swat and I think he's got a good shot at the KO on this one. Kongo got dropped by Frank Mir and Mir punches in slow motion. Roy might not look like a fighter but he's tough and well-rounded.

This isn't Mr. Olympia and I think Roy is the superior fighter so he takes this fight.

Roy is too tough and has enough power standing to put him away.

And Kongo is unlikely to be able to wrestle / grind Roy.

Having said that, when was the last time Roy used his Jitz? perhaps Kongo can clinch him to a 29-28 but I've got Big country by TKO.

No question Roy can TKO him. Mir dropped him, and Pat Barry came about as close as you can to finishing him with strikes. Roy lands that big right hand and it'll be lights out.

Kongo should be able beat Nelson on the feet quite easily as long as he doesnt get careless. Once Roy gets on top then he will have problems. I think Kongo can end this fight if he lands the right combo but Roy will presure for takedowns non stop, so he may not get the chance.

Expect a clinch fest here to a dec.

Meh. Honestly, when was the last time Roy Nelson showed any particular skill on the ground? He was dominated by Mir, and didn't accomplish much against Monson. His last submission victory was in 2006, back when he was still fighting small-time opponents. His takedowns aren't great, and neither is his top control. His TDD definitely isn't great.

Kongo is a pretty solid wrestler. Who knows what he can do if he scores takedowns and gets top control?

tbh both Mir and Monson are great grapplers, like really good.

Kongo was almost ko'd by Mir, f*cked up so bad by Barry that most would've stopped it, and ko'd by Hunt. The only time Kongo seems to perform well these days is when he can use some wrestling. Although it's possible, I don't see him doing well at this against Roy. I would guess Roy lands the old overhand right and puts him out.

Kongo has amazing cardio, no one ever talks about his cardio but i think he has best cardio in HW division, and yes better than Cain, when they fought Cain was more tired and breathing more heavy when the judges gave the decision. Kongo has never got tired which big muscular guys like him normailly do. Roy is gonna win though by KO/TKO.
