Calvins Kattars boxing?

it went pretty much as I expected. Max is such a fast and smart striker, it's hard to see him lose. Good to see him kick too.
Judging his most recent fights it seemed like Kattar would win, but Max turned it around and came back sharper and in better shape than when he was the champion. He wasn't fighting anywhere near this level in his past few fights and that is why he lost the belt and rematch with Alex. He wasn't this aggressive and versatile with his striking and he added new weapons. Past few fights he was strictly just an mma boxer with take down defense and not this aggressive.

It’s a reminder to us all of how speed of punch and speed of foot are not the same.
Kattars punches come out very fast, and people were rating him as the faster striker, but in reality his feet were rarely where they needed to be in order to put hands on Max. Holloway’s movement was on a completely different level.
It was the movement that threw off Kattar. He wouldn't let Kattar set his feet and plant to start throwing his combos. Max would start unloading combos right away so Kattar could never get comfortable. Kattar always needed to have his feet planted before he threw any punches. That's an extra half or full second before you even start your combo, so that's how Max was able to get off first in almost every exchange. Most strikers strike this way because it's the traditional text book way that most fighters learned. But it isn't the most effective vs fighters with good footwork or movement because they learned how to strike without feet being fully planted and while moving.

One thing is for sure tho, the man has a fucking heart of a lion

It is also very difficult to employ this method effectively and to generate true knockout power. Max has forgone concussive punching in favour of volume and given how good his chin is we can say it is paying big dividends for him.

True he will beat most fighters because of his superior boxing. It will only be the more skilled boxers with punching power that will give him problems. None really in his division that can match his boxing, Kattar was probably the closest one in terms of boxing skill and Max styled on him. Maybe a fighter with a better overall striking game can throw off his boxing with a kick heavy game. That would probably be the best option striking wise because everyone else's boxing isn't on Max's level. Zabit if he fixes his cardio can be a problem for Max in the striking department. Of course a strong grappler can also present problems like Alex did in their rematch.
