Cain Velasquez is Mexican/isn't Mexican Thread ***Threads Merged***

Why does this rustle so many people? Cain isn't a criminal, and he pays his taxes. You're welcome.

Its the racist tattoo. If it wasn't for that, no one would care. Countless American fighters of different heritages have supported them by carrying foreign flags to the octagon.

So would you say other fighters that have carried in different flags and supported different heritage demonstrated pride in their heritage?

What in that post indicated to you that he wasn't speaking for himself? I'm starting to wonder if people are just looking for problems where there are none.

A lot of uneducated bu##hurt children online on sherdog tonight.

Heavyweight boxing has been dead to us Americans since the days of Lennox Lewis and Evander Holyfield. And it's not because of a foreign champ. It's because the heavyweight fighters nowadays suck.

They're all in the Nfl.

I would, but terms like "white pride" "brown pride" or "black pride" are associated with negative terms of superiority and are found offensive by most.

wwe does this too, they're called plants

Rumor has it that the UFC will actually fill the entire arena with plants that will chant "Mexico" as well. Kinda crazy that the UFC would forgo all those ticket sales just to keep the Cain/Mexican thing going... :icon_lol:

debates like these really make me wonder how much actual interacting some of you guys do with actual people

You have a Celtic tattoo of a man dick? Is that some weird auto correct error or am I not making the same connection as you? Whose dick exactly?

Was hacked by my missus, last time I leave the comp without finishing my post.

Given the historical background of the U.S. it definitely is an argument I could see for white or black. I would be curious if people had similar reasons for Brown. Obvious there were movements and violence and discrimination linked with the usage of black and white. Brown seems pretty under the radar to me.

On the surface nothing wrong with any of it in theory but practically the stigmas with black and white can be problematic. I personally don't see the same with Brown. Not saying there may not be an argument, just I haven't heard one thus far

They have last names that would suggest they could be Mexicans but none of them are really Mexicans. Don't you think the Mexican fans will feel a little manipulated once they find out? Isn't it a little too obvious?

They sold out a 22,000 seat arena twice in eight months what do you think?

Fans seem to like Cain down there. They don't cry about him being born in the U.S. like Sherdogers it seems.

For many, including Cain and myself, heritage>nationality. Frankly the whole "the nation that gave you opportunities" argument seems ridiculous to me. Nations are just entities that rob and steal from each other, and in large part enslave their citizens in some way or another. Heritage, or ethnicity, is in your blood, it goes where ever you go, and is not changed by your birth place. Heritage is passed down from generation to generation, and is passed directly to you by the very people that gave you life. Your ethnicity is shaped by the choices and trials your ancestors have gone through, and though your own way of being is impacted by the world you grow up in at the core is all that genetic "memory" given to you by your forebears.

If you disagree with me, or see things differently, I completely understand.

hard troll ts hope you feel better now that you made this wasteland post.

not really, I mean look at the whole card... it's mostly "Latino". I myself feel a little manipulated even though I'm not Mexican. How about just some honest straight up ass-kickings and not trying to mess with people's heritage and sentiments?
