Burn It Down: The UFC Needs a Full Rebuild

I read that NETFLIX isn't too interested in the UFC, which is weird.

Even weirder is the WWE appears to be doing a lot better than them right now.
Historically, the WWE has always done better than the UFC. MMA is still more niche than professional wrestling.
TKO has been using the UFC's ridiculous profits to pay off their loans elsewhere.

I think the main issue has been the killing of PPV buys via increasing the price to $70. I'd estimate that in their push from $50 to $70, they've lost 30% of their buys, but due to profit percentages, they're still doing better than most leagues.

I'm someone who would buy about a third to a half of a years PPVs depending on the year and cards.

Now, there isn't a chance i'd buy one, my last purchase was UFC 281. I watch most events in the bar, ones I don't feel like going out for I put on my second monitor while I work or something.

Even 281 which I thought was worth money (I was a Poatan fan before the fake poatards) had fucking Claudio Puelles on the main card who I can't even remember a single thing about now. Cards are more watered down than ever. I may have bought 300 had I not gone to a bar, but if their business model is "Our long time fans buy one in one hundred events" that won't work out long term.

For all of the shitty points the UFC has literally been the ONLY major MMA org to survive longer than 20 years (maybe even less, how long did Bellator last?). EVERYONE else has failed miserably

If they go bye bye big league MMA

I swear some of you guys are anti-UFC bots or paid trolls working for competitors.
No, we just want a sport with integrity that follows the law. The UFC is supposed to be regulated by the NSAC which should be following precedents set in boxing.

The NSAC has a legal obligation to force the UFC to in turn force Jon Jones to defend or vacate. But the NSAC has abdicated their responsibility because of obvious UFC bribery behind the scenes. And we are tired of the UFC manipulating rankings and denying legitimate contenders their legally mandated title shots.

SO yes, we want to see the UFC fail and Dana White end up in prison.

Mafia-run UFC was fine (well, at least up until the Ronda/Conor era and the big sale), it's the investment troll-ran UFC that needs to die. UFC going out of business would mean that their assets and contracts are up for sale, and whoever this third group of owners is would have a shot.

I understand all that...

My point is literally no one else has been able to run an even remotely successful major org. Why do you think that would change?

It's not about a new org rising to power, it's about new ownership (who can be mafia, but aren't allowed to be Hollywood talent agents or investment schemers) resurrecting the UFC brand.

I still wouldn't trust anyone else to not run it into the ground, when everyone else that's tried has failed miserably. That's really all I'm trying to say

It's how it's supposed to work. In practice it doesn't, because the NSAC is corrupt.

The NSAC is supposed to be responsible for testing & suspending fighters. But they've allowed the UFC to essentially self-regulate drug testing with whatever company the UFC wants, which is paid by the UFC therefore a clear conflict of interest.

And again, this is why many of us hate Dana White and want the UFC to fail, so the sport can have room to grow and foster competition.

Absolutely, but you'll still see MMA fans online making fun of people who watch wrestling. When most people actually find people into cage fighting weirder than those that follow pro wrestling.

1. Mandatory defense every 8 months TOPS

2. no champ champ opportunity with less than 5 defenes

3. Hold an openweight is tournament every 2 years. 170 and bellow, and 170 and above

4. increase fighter pay 10% standard, 30% for all in the top 10. completely stomp out fighters begging for superfights

5. spend more when its a true, genuine super fight like JJ vs Tom. Give Jones 20 mil or something, if he ducks or asks for more say the fight is off the table and we arent interested in you fighting any longer. release him from contract

Funny thing is weren’t the UFC constantly sprooking that they had unprecedented profits and growth in recent times?

I guess that was a hype man activities? Not surprised if that was the case.

They do. They are a public company with TKO and report what they make.

They made 1.4 billion in 2024, an increate of 114 million over 2023.

They've made more money every year since they were bought by WME and will continue to do so with the new tv deal.

You may be bored, not happy with the product, bitch moan and complain about it on Sherdog but that doesnt change the fact they are making money hand over fist.

there's a reason that UFC paid a huge settlement against an antitrust lawsuit

There was evidence of Zuffa using mafia-like tactics to sabotage other organizations.

Bring back sponsors for the fighters and better shorts options

That and kicks to a downed opponent.

I've been seeing threads that the UFC has been dying since 2005.
Must be the slowest death of a company I have ever seen.
