Media Buckley to Ariel: When fighters come on your show, you try to use us as weapons against the UFC with your platform, setting us up with questions

The fact that the fighters have to be so scared about what they say about the UFC tells you everything.

I get where Buckley is coming from, but at least Ariel stands up to the UFC's BS. 99% of other journalists are castrated by the UFC. They're dickless.

Other journalists are like - let's distract from the fact fighters make 20k to fight, and do a fun quiz game or wear a wig in an interview, that's the real travesty here.

Ofc he can't see it. Smdh! Not a big fan of Buckley but I agree with him 100% on this.

Two things can be true. Ariel is absolutely needed in a sea of journalists who stay kissing Goofopotamus' ass, but he's also a weasel and whiny AF.

Agreed with everything except that last part.

There's no point in Buckley trying to come up with examples. You know Ariel is the smarter guy and will find his way out of any example Buckley could've presented to him.

Then why did Buckley agree to come on the show in the first place if he was going to hit Ariel with that and clam up? If you're going to make an accusation, bring receipts? That's all I'm saying. Buckley, just like everyone else is entitled to their opinion, but he looks like he's standing up for the UFC when Ariel definitely has a grudge with them over some worthwhile stuff.

Ariel can afford to stand up to them but only a few fighters can, and they can be counted on one hand (Conor, Bones to a smaller extent).

Honestly I wasn't following the whole story but yes, you're right. That's a good point.

because he's still going to get exposure, we're talking about it now. and refusing to go on the show is another win for ariel, to spin it as "poor me" fighter X won't come on the show, boo hoo. buckley is fair to make accusations, anyone with half a brain knows what ariel does 90% of the time when he's not being this expert award winning journalist of MMA. he's an instigator, buckleys fair to say it, he doesn't need to bring the rece33psz to share his opinion. this isn't court, this isn't the truth of law, it's the weasels show. of course buckley is going to stand up for his employer, the people that pay him, as a fighter on the precipice of doing something more, gaining something more than most other fighters this day and age.

The fighters can answer how they like, it's Ariel's job to be a real journalist. He's done a lot of good things too, he backed francis and gave him a platform when most people doubted him / downplayed him.

Yeah he's sooky sometimes, but everyone has their faults.

Everyone loves to hate on Ariel and sometimes with good reason
Yeah it's really weird. Yeah there are times he is in the wrong, but he's clearly the best MMA media person. Like normal, people seem to hate because he cried on his show and he's a nerd, people need to chill the fuck out though. I don't give a fuck about listening to any other MMA podcast, they aren't as well done and are usually half assed and boring.

He's doing all these big interviews on ESPN? He's still employed by ESPN? Ariel left in 2021 and went back to Vox. He worked for them for three years. He's still getting the big interviews. I'm not a fan of Helwani but I do appreciate his interviews compared to most of his contemporaries.
Why does the YT channel with 1.7M subs get interviews compared to the other channels?

Questions for Plato.

People hate him because he's clearly a grifter who doesn't actually like MMA but saw the opportunity with no one else in the space.

He already was insufferable. You had to know there was no way that shit was gonna last.

His channel is still up on YouTube. I went and looked. That gimmick was something else, lol.

Yeah but he got destroyed and his reputation never recovered. He was basically kicked out of MMA. As a New Yorker I can tell you he was the absolute worst stereotype eva

EVA

Yknow, like Conor embarassing Irish people. Like that.
