Buckley deserves a title eliminator

Buckley Won 4 fights last year with 3 finishes.

4 Wins in a year is a tall order for any fighter. He fought a replacement opponent Who has always been a certified top guy. He was supposed to fight garry, Which would have probably put him in the shot After Shavkat if the fight with belal had not been cancelled.

I know JDM is right up there, But his momentum has waned Considerably. I'd like to see Buckley rewarded for his good attendance and exciting fights. I think he should be given the fight with Leon Edwards this March in the UK.


Leon vs Buckley (title Eliminator)
Usman vs JDM (Winner gets next title eliminator)
Garry vs brady (winner gets next title eliminator)

To keep the division both fresh and moving this is how it should go.

I say this after a deep and aggravated sigh, But yes it probably does mean leon gets a title shot off a single win, but he did have 2 title defenses and was on a 13 fight unbeaten streak before losing to belal.

I say this as someone who does not like Leon edwards, at all.


Usman should absolutely need to win 2 before a title fight. If he beats JDM, Then maybe garry or brady he can pass. But not off just one win. That would KILL all the momentum the division has, and we'll all be back to Welter-waiting.

Same here. Colby and Masvidal need to retire and Usman doesn't have much to offer at 170, he's fought most of everyone except the new blood coming in. He should take fun fights at 185 until he decides to call it a career

I think there are fun fights for him to take at 170, I'd like to see him take on Geoff Neal.

That isn't a bad match up but I could see Usman scoff at the idea, thinking Geoff is 'too far down.' But I like the match up.

I don't know if Belal wants to fight early 2025 and Shavkat is out. Who should get title shot? Honestly I'd give it to Buckley. JDM has been out too long. And Garry just lost. But if Belal is ready when Shavkat is, then that's the fight.

Leon nope. The UFC don't like him and he isn't very exciting in the cage, despite being elite.

Usman, I can see them giving a title shot with a win, even though he would be 1-3 in his last 4. Dana loves Usman almost as much as Jones. He constantly says he's the WW GOAT ahead of GSP.

I'm honestly, Not at all sure how the UFC feels about him. It's hard to read. they definitely like that he is British, but they don't like his fighting style because he is boring.

But I think it's pretty certain, if they could have Leon as champ or Belal, They would pick Leon. The simple fact that they gave Leon a title fight from a win over Nate Diaz while Belal has to fight Luque, Brady and Burns should say it all.

Buckley didn't take much damage in this fight so he'll have quite a fast turn around. I think they'll probably give him Usman next if JDM isn't ready in time for when Usman wants to get back in the cage.

They gave him a title fight with a win off nate diaz in a fight that was boring and he also happened to get rocked and almost finished.

They'll Give him a title fight with this win, wether we like it or not.
