im beginning to think
You should be happy. I think he confused Bruce Lee and Benny the Jet in my post and started bashing them as the same person or something. My head hurts.
what the fuck do you think a gym with a known respected coach and fighters is? Starts with an A say it with me.....:icon_lol:
Further from what I'm looking at it said all the fighters are ammys .
I did not confuse the two and I did not bash him, but pointed out a few areas where amateur kickboxers will have gaps in their game.
I can point out more, such as him keeping his hands low
Stopped here.
Martial arts are not fights, there is generally a low amount or sparring in them. The only martial arts are signifcantly used in MMA are BJJ\Judo, even then BJJ are closer to combat sport because of the amount of sparring.
Just because you fail to understand the difference is a reflection you and if you cannot read the rest it also shows your lack of concentration skills.
A lot of traditional martial arts do not teach you how to fight well and have no sparring. Qualifying that a lot of MMA gyms also give poor instruction. There will be some Judo & Karate schools that give a lot of time to sparring but most do not.
Muay Thai is a martial art, you dolt. Boxing is a martial art. All martial art means is, literally, "art of war." If it's an art form that teaches you to fight, it's a martial art.
I don't think you've ever done Karate/Judo, let alone set foot into a respectable dojo of either art. Stop embarrassing yourself, kid.
You know nothing about me.
I'm 2-0. May not be that big of a deal to someone like yourself, but I at least have those credentials until I'm beaten or at least am not able to fight any longer.
The funny part is, you're defending a man who in his own right possessed a good knowledge of martial arts, Lee made some fantastic movies and probably the best Kung Fu movies ever. Yes, he was in tremendous shape and was lightning fast. Fair enough. But if you're going to say that Lee was/is better than any modern day fighter in MMA; you're obviously mistaken.
He had great ideas about eliminating what wasn't essential to an art, thus utilizing those moves and creating a form in the manner of hybrid fighting. (almagam)
He won some boxing matches, some karate tournaments, but against who?
There was plenty of competition for him in those days whether it were yesteryear catch wrestlers or kickboxers (perhaps not many known to us because the sport was relatively new then)...and yet, who did he defeat?
I couldn't consider any claim of his feats as credible other than his physical prowess.
Keep in mind that even the most unskilledand green MMA fighter has a stand up guard for stand up and the same for ground. Even if they're taught a little about Ground game, it takes a tremendous amount of power away from someone once they're taken down. I would know.
No there is a discrete difference as boxing is more of a combat sport, it is rarely referred as a martial art. There is a unfortunately negative connotation associated with 'martial arts' as some styles are very linear and would not be very effective when used.
The reason for that is because it's a western martial art, just like catch wrestling. And often the term martial art is used to refer solely to south east asian martial arts where in fact it's any form of taught combat. South east asian martial arts most probably have their origins from western martial arts as Alexander the Great travelled into India and taught them. And they took it to China. Boxing is a combat sport but it is also a martial art. Just like Olympic TKD is both and so is Judo.
What? Alexander the Great traveled into India and taught Indians martial arts?
That doesn't even make sense. How exactly did he do that? Did he opened a dojo in India?
How the fuck do you know how Bruce fought? Just cuz you train mma it doesn't give you the magical ability asses a person you have no real experience with whose been dead for decades. You sound like a giant douchebag talking out of your ass.
Where do you train out of?
No one can tarnish the legend of bruce. He got me interested in martial arts. Shitting on our forefathers won't get us anywhere, we should just take what we can from them and keep pressing on with an open mind and an open heart.
edit: omfg my orange belt! yipee![]()
I train out of your mother's camp.
You're a ****, brah.
This isn't about shitting on Bruce, it's about calming down the hype. Much like it doesn't do us any good to destroy the man, it doesn't do us any good to build him past his actual skills.
