Social British Muslims in Numbers: Census Summary Report 2025

You could make that argument for anything where a decision is made and someone doesn't want to go to the police about it though. Ultimately someone who wasn't happy could go to UK law and the UK law would have to be obeyed.

Who exactly are the police working for in this case? How is that orwellian shit in their mandate? And how do they do it in clear conscience? Policing thought crimes now?

What a country.

It's a lot easier than going after real criminals, who might fight back.

During the BLM Riots in 2020, the Met stood down it's so-called, "elite" armed police unit protecting Westminster because they were worried the BLM rioters might overpower the police and steal their weapons.

"Round the whites up, lock them up and throw away the key.

Give the ethnics a gentle slap on the wrist and let them go on their way so they don't cause a fuss."

@DeletedMember5343423434 that got a new job, bless him.

Never forget.

As I asked, do you think this happens In a culture where honour killings, a father, mother or brother killing their own daughter or sister are common and supported?

You're applying a western mindset to people who don't have one.

An honour killing in the UK would be treated as a murder. I'm not sure what you're getting at

But the threat or implied threat isnt. Sure they can decide to go to the UK Court but not without consequences. Such a woman would be brave and or stupid.

You're definitely right that a murder victim wouldn't go to the police.

Dont be dense for the sake of it when you know what is the discussion. You think a woman can just decide to go to the UK court and there wont be any consequences. At best its getting shunned by your family and at worst that persons life is in serious danger.

Sure but that's the case in any abusive relationship.

Not really. If someone beats his wife he does not have a whole family agreeing with him how that is the right thing to do. You can put an abuser in jail and the issue is over. Cant be said the same when your religion agrees with you, another family member "steps up".

I think you're overestimating how common that scenario is with UK Muslims tbh. There haven't been many honour killings that I can recall reading about.

Its not common because the women know better. That is what i meant by implied threat. I googled it and it says there has been a 62 percent increase in honor abuse cases that was 2024 but those arent murders. Cant find a number on that one. How can anyone really be fine with a sharia court in their home country. Are you ok with a sharia court in your country? If you are why?

It's not a proper court. It's for consenting parties who want to resolve a dispute according to islamic law. It doesn't dish out punishments and it doesn't mean Muslims can commit crimes without being subject to UK law.

I would have a problem with an actual Sharia court that had actual legal jurisdiction, but this is fine in my book and it would also be fine if Christians decided to have a court to settle disputes according to the bible so long as everyone involved contented to it and it didn't supercede the law of the land.

I would imagine Leicester, Bradford and maybe Birmingham are the highest.

I lived near Bradford for 12yrs, it's a fucking shithole - walking around Bradford is no different to walking around somewhere like Amman or Cairo. It genuinely is 'spot the white person' territory - I worked nightlife at the time and worked in a bar (well known chain) and they had a branch in Bradford. I worked bank holiday Monday there, RNB night - never again. Fucking hell.

Since divorce is illegal how would a woman go about it without fearing consequences? She can deny the sharia court and go the UK court but not without fear of repercussion.

I used to go there a lot for a curry when I lived in Leeds. That's one thing you can't fault about the place, some of the curry houses are fucking amazing.

The Sharia court is irrelevant in that case though because if she fears repercussion then she wouldn't go to the UK court anyway.
