Brian Ortega Admires Diego Lopes for Fighting Through Adversity at UFC 303

Yair wasn't a champ.

I was sold on Diego beating Ortega prior to the Ige fight. I now think this has all the makings of a classic 3rd round Ortega finish. Or maybe taking over late 2nd & winning a close decision.

His toughness & cardio will probably be enough to weather Lopes rd 1 storming.
Did you forget that Ige was in the final 2 weeks of a full fight camp, didn't cut weight and basically got paid to do his final hard training session by fighting Lopes?

In comparison Lopes was fighting Ortega on short notice(2 weeks), cut weight to 145 and didn't have a full camp. He still comfortably beat Ige and dropped a single round after nearly tapping Ige a number of times.

Ige had everything in his favour and still only took 1 round...

"Hey Hunter, I've been in camp for 3 months," the message read. "I'm the healthiest I've ever been, I can fight this guy tonight and beat him. This is what legends are made of. I'm in. I'm ready. I'm in great shape. Please don't take this opportunity away from me."

Ortega was tabbed to face Lopes in the co-main event on short notice after the UFC was sent scrambling when Conor McGregor's broken toe forced him out of the main event against Michael Chandler just over two weeks before the event. Ortega had difficulty cutting weight for the scheduled featherweight fight at 145 pounds and negotiated to bump the fight up to lightweight (155 pounds) early Friday morning.

Might be the best matchup on the card.
There's no quit in these warriors.

Really wanna see the grappling exchanges.
