Both Charlie Olives and Islam are Overrated Mega Thread

Gaethje didn't demolish Tony, he gradually took over a fight that started out competitive, great win though. Oliveira dominated every second of their fight.
Tony landed 1 good uppercut. Gaethje absolutely dominated

I forget what gaethje did but he was fucking around before the uppercut and he got dropped because of it

Everyone knows Poirier deserves one.
  • Many think Gaethje doesn't on a 1 fight losing streak.
  • Many think Chandler doesn't on a 1 fight win streak.
  • Many think Conor and RDA don't after 1 win in 4 years.
  • Many think Felder, Hooker and Ferguson don't on 2 fight losing streaks.
Well, guess who that leaves?

If you fully agree with all the above statements, you must think Oliveira deserves it. If you sorta agree with all the above statements, you must acknowledge he may deserve it.

I hope I've made my point. Have a nice day.
I agree that Dustin deserves the A side of the vacant LW title and Oliveira should be the B side but Chandler is the next best option and is on a 3 fight winning streak all by KO/TKO.

Believe it or not, I agree that Islam is overrated. Because he hasn't proven himself against the very top. Although i do think Islam will eventually grow into his rating given the opportunity. Same concept for Olives. But if you can't accept the same about Olives then you're just an Olives fanboy or an Islam hater.
That division is extremely weak, arguably the weakest. Who has better case than Charles?

Seeing as about 18 people have quoted me telling me I'm wrong I'll probably have to watch the fight again and accept my opinion must be off.

I don't think you are wrong, Tony was never leading that fight, but he was competitive to start with, it all got way more rough in and from round 2 imo.

Gaethje tried doing a bolo punch, he was totally fucking around and paid for it. Only thing Tony landed all night. He was demolished.

My issue with Olives and his fans and they think he deserves an immediate title shot. Look at his record, he hasn't earned that imo.

There are legit arguments for and against each of the three top contenders.

I honestly don't care which of the 3 fighters gets it, and hope one of them do instead of Conor. My only complaint is that TS is picking one of those three fighters and then only focusing on the against arguments.

And worse, he was doing it in a dickish way.

Stop it, its not a weak division. But it is top heavy and has kinda stagnated. Too many divas in the division now.

Because that ONE fighter seems to be the only one that is holding out in hopes of an immediate title shit. Pretty simple. Seems like Chandler and Gaethje understand they need a big win to get a title shot and are actively in talks to fight, Poirier is also in talks to fight. All of them have better accomplishments than Olives imo. He needs to humble himself imo.

I agree with you totally other than you said Chandler was on a 1 fight streak instead of 3.

Yeah. Since Oliveira beat him up. He was 5-0 in the UFC going into that fight including a solid win over Klose.
That speaks to his level, if one loss derailed him for over 2 years and counting. Open to changing my mind about this if it turns out he had some major injury or change in life circumstances. Otherwise it definitely speaks to his lack of quality imo if he mentally capitulated after 1 loss.

Top heavy how? Dustin is a former fw who had a war with washed alvarez

A lot of butt hurt Ferguson fans with no credibility posting in this shit stain of a thread.

Oliveira is a good fighter, but he will never be a champion. His wrestling and striking are decent at best, and even though his BJJ is very good, he is not unbeatable there. He also has more quit in him than Conor does, and that’s never a good thing.

The reason people are so hyped about him right now is because there isn’t anyone else to get too excited about. Most of the top 5 has lost recently so there is no one else to rally behind.

I guess he should lose his next fight then. There comes a point when guys who haven't been losing should be given priority over title matches instead of guys who might have been trading losses or just recently lost to the champ.
