Books you're reading now

A Little Hatred, the new book in Joe Abercrombie’s First Law series.

Saw it in the bookstore, but I won't buy a hardcover book, so I'll have to wait a while until it comes out in softcover.

Just finished reading the first book (Gardens of The Moon) in a 10 book series called The Malazan Book of The Fallen by Steven Erickson. I'm going to pick up book 2 this week.

Also read the Dragonlance Legends trilogy as well. Read it when I was in my mid teens, and picked them up at a local book store that was having a sale (got all 3 for 6$). I'd call it low fantasy, but it was easy reading and I enjoyed it for what it was. Wasn't sure I was going to after not reading it for about 30 years.

Fuck yeah! I love it when more people read Malazan.

Stick with it! Soon the plotlines will start to converge and become more clear.

I put this series far above "Game of Thrones" and these guys actually finished them all and are writing more.

I haven't been reading lately, but I've been doing the audiobook of "The Game of Life", but this thread reminded me I need to get back into daily reading.

This is a pretty rough series to just dive into. The absolute proper order looks like this:

You can start with Gardens but you will be very, very confused at first until the picture becomes clearer. The true order up top now that all 21 books are released will make you see the plot clearer and meet some of The characters first.

There really is no wrong way to do it. It depends on how much time and money you want to invest in it.

At the very least, my personal suggestion is Night of Knives before Gardens of the moon, to understand the Malazan Empire itself a little bit better and to understand a touch of the lore before diving in.

Thanks man, just bought the first one. 10 bucks even used, crazy what books cost now.

Edit: found one for 6 bucks. Not too bad.

Finished Caging Skies, then read Wild Pork and Watercress, the novel Hunt for the Wilderpeople was based on.

Check back with me if you need clarification where it would help. I won't spoil anything for you though.

Got the Flea book and two cricket books (Ian Botham and Ian Chappell) for Xmas, gonna be great for the holidays.

Great book, a true rags to riches story, the guy toppled a South American government because it didn't fit his
interests, doesn't get more badass than this guy.

I’ve not read those Dragonlance books for years, used to have the Chronicles and Legends anthologies but lost them a while ago, I’d really like to read them again.

Just finished Blue Moon, the latest Jack Reacher novel. The whole series is really basic for plot, but for some reason I just love them.

Not sure what to start up now.

I often enjoy a good horror novel but there are so few being published these days. But one of my favorite authors just published his new novel THE REDDENING & I'm just getting into it.

Are you seriously a future me? I just bought this book but haven't had time to start it yet.

How was Caging Skies? Jojo Rabbit was my favourite movie of 2019 but it's hard to imagine how it would read in text form.
