PlayStation Bloodborne Megathread, v.4

These depth 5 chalice dungeons have been a humbling experience. Last one is Pthumeru Ihyll which i'm sure will be a gang bang. Even Ebrietas was a struggle to get past and shows how lucky i got when i fought her in the main game.

Also Chikage Vs Ebrietas is pretty anime. Weeb laido slash meets tentacle porn lol

Luckily if you manage to make it to the very last dungeon, the last boss is a cakewalk compared to what you've faced. Happy hunting!

Ah the memories. Had some of my best PvP moments in that game.

Its not always a matter of git gud, the game is piss poorly explained compared to others. I cant get into it either.

What exactly wasn't explained that you needed to know in order to succeed? I suck at bloodborne but I just needed to get better I understood the basic mechanics of the game.

Im not shocked if people want to be handheld and told in baby steps of how to play a game lol.

There is virtually no storyline as far as i got into it, no details on how to use shit really. I ended up watching a play through and tried to get the jist of it all and the endings suck ass turning into a fucking slug for one of them. People talk about "the lore" but one shouldnt have to dig into every orifice to find everything. Sekiro was better in this regard somehow and there wasnt much to sekiro either.

The atmosphere is great and why i wanted to play it but it fell short for me.

Ok well now you are talking about something else. Getting good has nothing to do with understanding the story in a game. I honestly don't understand the lore in Blood Borne either and I didn't really try. All the game mechanics were explained though.

Man, you must really love Hollow Knight to change out Pavlin in your av lol

I couldn't get into it, but I know you raved about it. I may have to try again

btw, for those shitting on the game, I always understand how people hate Soulsborne games, they are difficult at first, and can be incredibly frustrating. You can't mash buttons and hope to accomplish anything. You really need to slow things down and be tactful with every encounter, at least at first, or you won't want to play for long.

I have a poor attention span, so it took me a long time to get into it, but once I did, it was pure crack. I've been chasing that high ever since

Watching a playthrough in these is pointless, if your goal is to understand why people love these games so much. You have to experience overcoming the challenge yourself. It's more than just getting better, it's the fact that every enemy, regardless of your level (unless you are way OP) poses a danger if you get sloppy, soyou always have to be on your toes. The mechanics give weight to these encounters. It becomes an incredibly visceral experience you have to feel yourself.

The storytelling method in this isn't something I would have cared for either, but when you stop and look around, it's right in front of you, always told well environmentally. I grew to love the method, as your blood gets boiling so much that you rarely want to stop for a prolonged cutscene.

You get to pick and choose when you want to absorb more of the story, either by examining the world more closely, or reading the item descriptions. Piecing it together yourself makes it a unique experience for everyone. The countless well thought out, and highly produced Youtube lore videos, or reddit posts, are even bigger rabbit holes. It's fun comparing your experience with others, as the lore is so rich.

I've mentioned before that Code Vein took a different approach to item descriptions for lore. Instead of just simple text, you got to play through interactive cutscenes. It wasn't perfectly executed, but the fact you could do it on your own time was cool. I'd like to see that expanded upon. I love well crafted cut-scenes like in Witcher 3, or TLOU and MGS. There's no reason that can't be brought into the fold too, it's just needs to be something you can execute on your time.

There's generally only music for boss fights and certain rest stops, so it becomes very immersive. It's just you and the world around you for the most part, so It becomes your journey as much as any of the legendary RPG's and immersive sims out there.

Like anything, it's not going to click for everyone, but you can't understand why it does without first hand experience.

Meaningless to me, and sekiro was harder. My issue is fsr from the difficulty of the enemies.

I like cut scenes when done well.

Im not reading reddit to understand a game that should be told as im playing it.

Had no effect on me.

Misread the gameplay aspect, still stands for storytelling though. There are amazing characters and stories littered throughout the Soulsborne games

Watch a lore video instead of a playthrough, if you care to learn about any of it without playing yourself.

If I had to choose one video that encapsulates what makes Souls games so intriguing it's Act Man's Dark Souls overview. He's pretty entertaining.

It's a good game and I get why people defend the lack of story but if you took the same game and gave it more RPG elements it'd be even better.

Still gets the blood pumping to see Simon's bowblade mounted in such majesty. Artist was a man named Ishu Tani. Long live tricks of our workshop; long live the paleblood...

So I've given it another (on PS5) but im experiencing issues with the save. I'm aware that there is no manual saving option and Im reading online that it is constantly auto- saving. However, anytime I die I am returned to the last place I lit a lamp. Having to go through the endeavour of having to fight another 10 enemies. I have also exited the game with the hopes of returning to a more recent position to no avail...If i start the game again - Again I am taken to the last place I lit a lamp with all the enemies to fight once again...any advice?
