PlayStation Bloodborne Megathread, v.4

So I've given it another (on PS5) but im experiencing issues with the save. I'm aware that there is no manual saving option and Im reading online that it is constantly auto- saving. However, anytime I die I am returned to the last place I lit a lamp. Having to go through the endeavour of having to fight another 10 enemies. I have also exited the game with the hopes of returning to a more recent position to no avail...If i start the game again - Again I am taken to the last place I lit a lamp with all the enemies to fight once again...any advice?
Enemies will always respawn when you either return to the Hunter's Dream or die and respawn at a lamp. It's not resetting your save as such, as items you collect and bosses/minibosses/npcs will be gone. The game just likes being cruel.

So anytime I die the only place i will respawn is the most recent lamp ? And all progress is gone?

What is the benefit of returning to the hunters dream?

That's right. What you lose on death is your blood echoes which are points you use to buy things and level up. You'll usually find them where you last died and they can appear as a glowing bloodstain on the ground or they can be collected by an enemy. The enemy that has your blood echoes will have glowing white eyes.

If you die before collecting your blood echoes they will be gone for good.

The Hunter's Dream is important as that is where you spend your blood echoes to level up by talking to the doll or buying and selling items at the bath messengers. It's also important for you to visit the workshop in the dream to upgrade your weapons and allocate blood gems and runes.

You'll also be able to fast travel to other areas from the Hunter's Dream. Places that you have already found a lamp for and you'll be able to access Chalice Dungeons from there eventually.

Much appreciated. This was informative.

How do I get to the workshop/dream?

We live in a time where game journalists struggle with tutorials.....

Im not shocked if people want to be handheld and told in baby steps of how to play a game lol.

ehhhh i wouldn't oversimplify it like that

Now I don't speak for everyone, as I do love a good challenge. I have played a bunch of games where I died many many times on boss fights until I figured out how to beat them on my own.

But then you have games like Nioh 2: I tried really hard to get into this game and learn the complex system.. and for a while, i was getting the hang of the different stances, ki pulses, parrying, timing, all of that. Then I got to one boss where I couldn't use any of those techniques.. and if he grabbed me I was basically done. I died many times trying different strategies, but that fight basiclaly boiled down to trying to keep distance, moving in after his attacks, poking him real quick, then stepping back and letting the cycle repeat itself.

It was a dangerous fight.. and manageable for those who have the patience.. but in the end.. IT WASN'T FUN.

Different game, I know, but similar concept. I am trying out bloodborne now and so far I have no direction whatsoever. I hope I do figure it out eventually, if not, I'm not going to fight with the game if I'm not having fun.

Sounds like your build was ass in Nioh 2. Which boss was it?

One of the early ones.. in a burning house.

Like I said, I managed.. but it wasn't fun.

With all the stress I have from work and life, the last thing I want to do when I want to relax at home is have an unrewarding boss fight where I get punished if I want to be creative about beating a boss.

Ohhhh Enenra. Yeah that boss sucks dick. Too early in the game to have a decent build.

I really need to revisit Bloodborne at some point before Elden Ring, i only need one ending trophy for the plat.

Got my first 27.2 attack gem with a manageable -11% damage vs kin. Gonna keep farming in the hope i can get all 27.2 with increase stamina costs. I've also though of having the two 27.2 gems and getting a lost Chikage and having two 31% bloodtinge gems on the sword and gun.

There is virtually no storyline as far as i got into it, no details on how to use shit really. I ended up watching a play through and tried to get the jist of it all and the endings suck ass turning into a fucking slug for one of them. People talk about "the lore" but one shouldnt have to dig into every orifice to find everything. Sekiro was better in this regard somehow and there wasnt much to sekiro either.

The atmosphere is great and why i wanted to play it but it fell short for me.
I know you're probably feeling like you're getting shat on in this thread but you're not alone. I find it frustrating as well. I'm not saying they need to nerf the game but it would be nice if they made it somewhat more accessible for casual gamers because I do find myself drawn to the games but find them to be too much work. I did eventually get the hang of Bloodborne and made some decent progress but then I hit this dungeon that was so hard it made me just give up completely.

Gem farming is probably the most boring thing i've done in a game. On the plus side i'm now a parry God.

I just think the chalice dungeons in general weren’t that fun. Couple cool boss fights but the levels themselves just got so dull, I got my platinum trophy and never did the dungeons again.

Same. I can’t be bothered trying to get better gems. After I beat the Queen I figured I’d had my fill of the dungeons.

This is lovely to hear, I'm glad you're enjoying it. Have you done multiple builds? If so what's your favorite?

I grabbed the Chikage early(after Amelia) and have stuck with it ever since. Can't get enough of the weeb laido slash.

Up to that point i used the Saw Cleaver and Saw Spear. My Bloodtinge is at 50 and Skill at 25. Now i'm trying to get the right cursed gems to max my attack power but i'm not having much luck.

I want to be able to dish out maximum pain before i try the DLC. After that i'll move on to a less stressful game. Maybe come back and try a Moonlight Sword or Rakuyo build if the weapons carry over to new game.

Hunters has some really good stuff in it. I'd have to say overall it's not as good as the vanilla game, but it does have what is in my opinion the best boss battle in the whole game, maybe of all time.

I will always love Bloodborne. It sold the PS4 to me
