Blaydes would wreck Gane

I don't know if he has injuries or what but his wrestling has declined a lot since his prime. He was just about the only legit wrestler at HW for a while there, until Almeida came in the scene. I think a prime Blaydes would've handled Almeida much easier and wouldn't have been so compromised in that first round.
Exactly. Despite winning the fight, he looked like total shit. I don't care he won.

Gane hasn't fought very many current top guys. Pretty much just #7 Spivac and Volkov, who he really just lost to. After that his best wins are Derrick Lewis and Rozenstruik and Tai Tuivasa.

I doubt he beats Blaydes or Almeida, and could get KO'd by Pavlovich.

I'm really struggling to think of how Blaydes would lose a matchup to Gane. Literally all of Blayde's losses are due to getting caught by the biggest knockout artists at heavyweight. Ngannou, Aspinall, Pavlovich, Derrick Lewis. I just don't see Gane generating that kind of power. And if he can't, how does he avoid getting wrestlefucked for 3-5 rounds? I don't see it and he didn't show it on Saturday.
Blaydes got put down by a flicking jab from Aspinall, his chin is completely gone. You don't need fuck you power to finish Blaydes at this point.

On paper, it seems like a pretty good fight for Blaydes, but we're talking about a guy who was beating an older Derrick Lewis and managed to get KO'd. I'm quite sure Blaydes finds some way of getting KO'd by Gane, even if he wins a round or two. That's been his pattern for the entire time he's been in the UFC.

I doubt he loses to Pavlovich. In his last fight against Volkov, Pav started to resemble Todd Duffee not only in physical appearance, but in his very predictable, head-hunting, wrestle-box style. He may have a better chin than Duffee, but his striking game looked very limited. A more technical striker with a good chin like Gane will make him look foolish.

Watching him fight Pavlovich, who's clearly the better boxer, a big hitter and has the longest reach in the division was so frustrating
Yes Blaydes, let's box that guy despite seeing your former teammate Overeem easily take him down and smash his face in

Don't take the path of least resistance, keep boxing with him until you get clipped hard and you're basically out on your feet
Fuck me, that was bad

The fight lasted 3 mins. Curtis was looking to get the fight down but he couldn't. When he did get into a range he attempted a TD and failed. He just couldn't set up the TD well. Sergei kept the pressure on him and had him moving backwards and the volume of strikes was overwhelming Curtis.

Curtis usually does well taking strikers down when he is able to set up the shots. He had success vs Volkov, Overeem, Rozenstruick, those guys don't pressure as much and it allowed Curtis to set up the TD. Vs Pavlovich, the openings weren't there and he just didn't have the ability.

That was a right hook, not a jab. Get your punches straight. Aspinall has the record for shortest fight time in the UFC and has finished every single one of his wins. Gane has nowhere near the kind of power you need to stop Blaydes.

Lewis is the knockout king and put everything into that uppercut. You can't look at that punch and tell me it wouldnt have KO'd anyone.

At least people will stop pretending Gane is anywhere near Tom?

No the right hand missed, it was the jab that put him down. Watch the slow motion replay. You don't need a lot of power to hurt Blaydes these days.

Absolutely. I’ve been saying it since N’Gannou outgrappled him. I cannot understand the hype. I got a shit ton of replies telling me I’m wrong and he’s elite.

No. His peak is a guy you bring in to beat up the Tai Tuivasas and Derrick Lewis types of the division. Overrated previously but this fight may actually have him underrated now
Yup!

Yes Gane is overhyped just cuz he beat some old shopworn fighters and he did ok vs 1D Francis

I think the right does land (but barely, looks like a skim), and it is about temple level, so it can certainly throw off an already heavily affected balance, but yeah, it's definitely more the jab doing the work.

However, that is more than just a jab, considering how hard both of them step into it. That looked like a strong collision of forces and it was perfectly placed

You make a strong and logical argument to be fair

I'm not saying Gane can't win. It's HW MMA at the end of the day and they all can land a big enough shot. But Blaydes strengths match up incredibly, incredibly well with Gane's weaknesses. So he should be a solid favourite

Blaydes would

Gane has plenty power, he just doesnt sit down on his punches, when he is planting his feet and swinging, he can absolutely turn off Blaydes lol
When he sits down on a punch he makes himself even more vulnerable to Blaydes take down (random sign off of lol like a 13 year old girl)
