By saying that he won't be "cannon fodder" for Jones, he's essentially admitting that Jones would likely beat him. Seems like the wrong mentality to me; and I think it misses the boat. The opportunity to be the first person to beat Jones, and the notoriety that would come with it, is worth more than a single payday.
That being said, if Blaydes beats Lewis, he absolutely deserves a title shot. It would be his 5th win in a row, with 4 of those being against fighters currently ranked in the top 10. Seems like a no-brainer. But Dana isn't the biggest Curtis Blaydes fan, so I wouldn't hold my breath.
