Blaydes on whether he wants to face Jon Jones: " I'm not going to fight Jon Jones for 200k

By saying that he won't be "cannon fodder" for Jones, he's essentially admitting that Jones would likely beat him. Seems like the wrong mentality to me; and I think it misses the boat. The opportunity to be the first person to beat Jones, and the notoriety that would come with it, is worth more than a single payday.

That being said, if Blaydes beats Lewis, he absolutely deserves a title shot. It would be his 5th win in a row, with 4 of those being against fighters currently ranked in the top 10. Seems like a no-brainer. But Dana isn't the biggest Curtis Blaydes fan, so I wouldn't hold my breath.

Also Porier wanted more money to fight Conor. Fight almost fell through. I suppose he should also make the same money to fight the biggest star in the company.

Covington AND Usman both wanted more money to fight each other, and they got it.

But Blaydes,no he cant do that. Thats different somehow.

Source? I’m not being a dick just genuinely curious if you’re right or not.
Unfortunitely, we dont have @FrankieNYC anymore, because he would have already responded. I am not that dedicated. But im sure someone will have an example for you.

I am thinking Dustin is getting Donald Cerrone money to fight Conor. If you know what i mean.

Fuck him then, he’s literally a no name outside of sherdog and should be willing to fight Jones for free to get some recognition.
He's ranked as like #2 or #3 heavyweight in all MMA. This guy beat a fuckton of great fighters. Is his style boring? It's not my favourite guy to watch, but he wins consistently and there is no denying that this guy is meant to be a title contender sooner than later. I sense that he's yet another guy to get frustrated with the UFC, and he's asking to get paid more. Wouldn't everyone do the fucking same? He's headlined how many cards, now? That behavior isn't that of a diva ffs. It's funny how some folks on these boards think fighters should be doing this for the love of it and not care about money, or just naturally ask for more as they climb up the ranks or face higher profile opponents. Is that how you feel about your job? If so, happy for your boss, since he can make you do increasingly tough shit without the fear of hearing you knock on his door, asking for a raise at some point.

It’s bad enough when popular fighters act like divas, but LOL at Curtis Blaydes making demands. I hope Black beast stiffens him next week.

<DisgustingHHH>
You and I know that's not gonna happen, and Blaydes will rack up one more win against a top 10 opponent, and extend his winning streak to 5. The kind of win streak that should logically get you a title shot at HW.

Ok bro whatever you say. I bet Blaydes would get ppv points or something extra to fight Jones in a main event.

What the shit!!! Curtis Blaydes makes 200k a fight. Who the hell wants to see Jon Jones move to heavyweight and fight that boring ass guy

The only way he gets PPV points is publicly making a big deal about being payed to fight Jon Jones. Even Jon Jones has been complaining about being payed to move up to HW. You must be brain dead my dude.

I figure he had to negotiate a better price for himself to accept the fight. I fucking hope so. This is fuckin bullshit

I am just wondering if that price range is #1 I don't care if i win or lose. Or #2 I need to give this fight everything i got, or im done.

If they dont like him asking for more money than they can find someone else willing to fight jones for 200k its that simple .He is just sayin he wont. I love how offended everyone gets,as if Jones' future is predicated on Blaydes taking a weak payday
<PlusJuan> end of thread

Gee what do you think he’s doing by saying publicly to the media he won’t fight Jones for 200k? I think you are the one who is brain dead

They had him in a bad negotiation position, thats for sure.

He is basicly saying he is not fighting Jon Jones for his contracted base pay. How stupid are you my dude?

Most fighters would jump at the opportunity to fight Jones for 200K. Hell, they'd do it for half that.
Yiiieaaahhh...about that stupid fucking rhetoric..."most fighters" are not gonna be on a 5 fight win streak at HW after Saturday, and ranked in the top 3 at heavyweight, which makes them in a key position in their career to negotiate for more, a position that he may never hold again. That's an opportunity as well, isn't it?

Easy for any unranked hick to come up with "I'll do it for half that paycheck"...yeah they won't sign some random sweaty meathead with a 3-4 record to fight Jon Jones, mate.

Exactly, meaning he wants ppv points or something extra to fight Jones. Again you are the one who can’t read between the lines. My point all along was he would get something extra, ppv points for example, if he was to fight Jones in a main event.

Thats what has me thinking they made it obvious to him that they want him to lose. I can tell you this, I don't buy wolf tickets.

You are dense my dude, My point is, UFC isn't going to give him PPV points. This fight won't happen, and if it does, it will be a doubled base pay. If you can prove he got ppv points if this fight ever happens, then i will gladly eat crow, until then, STFU.

He dont wanna make bum fight money to fight Jones. Makes sense to me

Yeah but on the other side,he could lose to a lhw,get oblique kicked, get injured, all for 200 k,and then when he comes back in a yr he can make 200 k again

If he'd rather fight bums, he doesn't even deserve $200k. If he's afraid to lose, he doesn't even deserve $200k. If he can't win, he doesn't deserve red panties.

He's got the modern MMA diva mentality, and will be stuck crying about money because of it. Is normal.
