You didn't think Gosling was great in this?
When I said throw away main lead, what I meant is the character himself. K really had no relationship or meant anything to Deckard just like in Salvation, Marcus was really no one to John Connor. They only existed to die in order to advance the hero of the franchises goal

Correct. 2049 would have gained more fans being a more conventional story....

....in which K was ultimately revealed to be the FirstBorn. And, well, lives.

I've mapped out this version in my head, but it's more a specific and smaller story because of fan service.

Indeed.

If in fact we do get a third movie, it really does not need to have anything to do with Deckard. It's a shame that. . .

. . . K does not survive and have a story to continue.[//spoiler]

Yeah I do realize it would have been pretty cliche and it had been done million times before about the whole reveal thing. It did seem like the the one eyed lady literally pulled the rug under him when she told him "You didn' treally think you were the child did you"

They didn't have to lead the audience on like that and cock tease them like that

No kidding. I would have thought Ana would have been at least nice enough to say something as he's storming out. What a bitch.

I quite liked this. Great acting, interesting plot, and compelling characters. They were wise to not create a similar plot to the first one, which led to a very difference sort of development of characters that still circled around similar themes.
I felt the big reveal was compelling, and ended up allowing for some follow through with the philosophical motifs. More conventional than the first, but it’s effective. One of the best films of the year so far. But then, Oscar season is on the way...

Oscar season is on the way but just looking at the release schedule from here to December I can't for the life of me figure out what the Oscar contenders are going to be. Nothing's jumping out.

Just got back from the movie. I was stunned at how much I liked this movie. I loved the slow pace and dark visuals. Acting was just fine. I liked most of the characters. Luv was the best!!! She literally says "I'm the best"

The lack of exposition in the movie is refreshing and enjoyable as I hate being spoon fed movie plots.
Special effects are like nothing I have seen before and seemed perfectly blended into the live action.

It was a long movie. The way the story was structured it made it feel longer for me until about a half hour before the end when I realized how the story was going to play out and I stopped waiting for a Transformers battle to the death.
Watched it in a new theater with very comfortable reclining leather seats so I was never thinking about how sore my butt was. Was on a huge 4k screen and looked and sounded awesome.
I highly recommend this movie for any Sci-fi fan.

10 out of 10 for me. I will be seeing this again in the theater.

Shape of Water looks very nice if its anything like Pan's Labyrinth

Yeah, nothing screaming this year. Christopher Robin, 3 billboards, and probably geostorm

Ooh, THREE BILLBOARDS OUTSIDE EBBING, MISSOURI has my favorite things: Frances McDormand and Frances McDormand wrecking shit. And Woody Harrelson.
