It's sad to see someone like Kron dedicate so much time and energy into BJJ only to get exposed in MMA. He had no idea how to get the fight to the ground because he has no wrestling or judo skills.. He looked like a complete amateur. At his age I think it's too late for him to try and learn wrestling, he should consider going back to BJJ events where they have a gentlemen's agreement to start the match on the ground.

I think Kron would even struggle in a pure grappling match and would be exposed if he was ever to grapple someone like Makhachev.

It's fair to say that BJJ isn't as compatible as Wrestling or Sambo in relation to MMA.

Makhachev already raped another ADCC champion Ramos. Ground fighting with gnp is a whole different ball game

Dern is ADCC champion too.

Kron has heart though. I thought his boxing be a lil bit better. Roger is the first Gracie to really try and learn striking. Thought kron would take it to another level

i love BJJ but its a legit F tier sport. U have literal D level athlete Gordon Ryan completely taking the sport by storm. U have some of his fellow D- level blue belts beating long time 20+ yr black belt legends after less than 2 years turaining

I always understood this slogan as Sambo being a combination of both wrestling and submission grappling and BJJ being just submission grappling. In other words, a Sambo(-ka? -ist?) has to learn both while the BJJ guy can get away with just focusing on the submission grappling aspect. From this PoV, the message on the shirt is not wrong: Sambo requires you to learn a broader spectrum of skills.

BJJ is turning into a 'traditional' martial art with all of its dedication to techniques that are quickly becoming useless in professional fighting.

Think of how rarely you actually see BJJ style submissions these days.

No bjj in the fight ..all it exposes is old school traditional bjj fighters who refuse to learn takedowns and only pull guard .. to be honest this is a Dying breed in the grappling world ..

The future is hybrid, submission grapplers, look at ADCC from this year

BJJ is exposed even though every contemporary MMA fighter has to have it in their arsenal to be successful?

That's like saying Muay Thai is exposed if a striker got choked out. It's called MMA for a reason. Obviously no fighter with a single specialty is going to do well. This isn't 1995.

Demian Maia improved a lot his wrestling and even striking. I think Kron had to adopt the same Maias strategy, since the 1st second of the fight try to TD.
As much the fight goes on, it becomes more difficult to TD because of the sweat.

At the highest levels of MMA you have to hurt someone first before you can just sub them.

Sure sometimes a sub will work but these dudes are so skilled you’re gonna have to hurt someone with strikes before you sink in a sub for a finish.

BJJ exposed because an individual who primarily practices it, didn’t have the required skills to take the fight down and use said expertise? Confusing logic being used here.

Well, I'll say that BJJ has become near cult-like. It's unwilling to admit to its own weaknesses, I say this as a practitioner.

For the past year, all I've been hearing at every academy is how heel-hooks are going to become the 'next big thing' in fighting. Yet you almost NEVER see them in high level matches.

WHY?

Because even putting yourself in the position to nail one of those fucking things leaves you MASSIVELY exposed to some devastating striking.

Precisely because of that: BJJ prowess didn't grant the BJJ practitioner the ability needed to take the fight to the ground... and you need to take the fight to the ground to use BJJ. You can win UFC gold by being a primarily striking specialist. You can win UFC gold by being a primarily wrestling specialist. Where is the BJJ specialist who can win UFC gold?
