I finally sold all my doge, half at 0.0055 or so and the other at a penny. its been under a penny for a few days now so i'm hoping i made the right call.

i'm not certain what to do with my bitcoin - i'm sitting at nearly 5x profit and i feel like we are so close to the next peak

I'm am reasonably certain (though I don't know for sure nor does anyone) it's about to crash soon... any day now. I'd sell some at least.

HOLD! For the next five years.

ahh conflicting advice!

i think we'll hit 35k today/tomorrow - i'd love to know how many of the stimulus cheques have been sent out at this point - i still think once that money's spent completely then it dips again.

Lol.

I remember my uncle telling me dad. “Zack wants me to put all his money into Apple because he thinks this iPod thing is going to be a big deal.”

we bring it up every so often at family gatherings. Lol

Apple was on the brink when Jobs came back to run the company. I kind of felt like NeXTSTEP was years ahead of Windoze and that this would spark Apple -- even though I'd never owned an apple product in my life.

One other dumb move I made is that in the mid-2000s i bought a share of BRKa for each of my kids. I decided to do another start up (right as the financial crisis kicked off), which means no income for some time. Needless to say i had to sell the two shares.

You want me to pull some strings and find out how many cheques have gone out? I used to be a mod here. I’m pretty sure that holds some weight still.

we’ll both sign it. Two former sherdog mods. They’ll have no choice but to respond.

fucking lmao
i mean, what could go wrong?

Big institutions WANT you to sell now, so they can buy in at a cheaper price. There is going to be a lot of FUD spreading in the next little bit so hold your positions.

Remember when China "banned" bitcoin in 2017 and so many people panic sold only to have billions of $ pour back in once the price dropped? Yep, they got people good on that one.

Wish I knew brother. The majority of my btc and eth is just being held for long term. We're currently in an alt season so my main focus are those right now with the intention of using profits to put back into btc and eth. I'm expecting btc dominance to drop quite a bit, and when it does that money will go into alts, namely eth and associated projects. I'm very bullish

interesting.
if doge drops down to sub 0.0025 i'll buy a million worth again like before - the rest of my profit i'll put into ETH

And here's the problem with trying to time markets - I've been sitting on a decent sized (for me) chunk of cash since October waiting on stock and crypto markets to crash. I had assumed there would be one near the election, but it never came. If I had just invested it back then, I'd be up significantly now.

The smart thing would probably be to increase my weekly coinbase purchase for a few months to slowly invest that chunk of money, but I still think prices are going to come down soon and I want to wait until that happens. I'll probably still be holding my money when it hits 50k.

Honestly, your money is best spent elsewhere if you're looking to make some nice gains. Dodg is like the troll coin of cryptocurrency. Look into projects like Polkadot, Cardano, VeChain, Chainlink to name a few. Projects that will have an impact on society. Dodgecoin is kinda just there for the luls

That's awesome man! What I'm trying to say tho is that if you invested your initial capital in useful projects it might have been 25k.

I've been around crypto for a while and while I will never claim to be an expert, I can say one thing with confidence: Dodg is a shitcoin.

But it's your money, do as you will!

the intention was to fuck around with bitcoin because though it is a shit coin, when you have a mill of them, fractions of a cent makes a huge difference in profit - i want to use the profit as a means to fund other crypto like ETH or BTC. i'm just a bit hesitant now on putting that into the ETH as I feel it's going to come off a bit here soon.

A percentage of my salary every month is paid in bitcoin directly from my employer.
One of the best decisions I ever made.
It drip, drip, drips in and before you know it you have a nice little bundle.
Then when the bull market kicks off it can be quite shocking to see what you are sitting on.

how do taxes work for you then?

how do taxes work for you then?

I pay them. Bitcoin is salary like cash is salary.
Then I will pay capital gains tax on whatever is cashed out when it is cashed out.
I sleep better that way.

Everyone is "billy big balls" online about not paying tax on crypto, but when the revenue dept come knockin' then we will really see how big their balls are.
Of course these "billy big balls" could only be dealing in small sums, so they probably don't care very much anyway.

interesting

do you pay a flat % on the bitxoin you're paid in or is it based on your 'profits?

and if so, what if you lose money on bitcoin for the year?
