Big bands you never cared for...

I think I know what you mean, bands like Amon Duul (sorry for my bad German Spelling :):):)), Uber Alles, etc., right ???

Yes Amon Duul II are one of the outstanding bands in the genre along with Can, Faust, Neu etc.

You just mentioned the magic band par eccellenza : FAUST !!!!! I literally love this band - their composing and arrangement powerhouse is massive !! A German friend in Australia (Eric Senff) got me hooked to them and ever since I heard Jennifer (off Faust IV), my absolute fav prof song by them, I have never let go !!!!

Driving psychedelic bassline that gets under your skin and stays there forever, majestic lyrics and unbelievable arrangements !!!!!

Fuck outta here
They're the greatest rock band ever.
Now now, let's not be rude - not everyone out there is able to appreciate excellent music. Personally, I think Sabbath represents heavy metal like no other band, but I always try to see the picture from all angles and other people's point of view.

Unless it involves Radiohead lol

Haven't listened to an AC/DC song in years.

Though, we would jam out to them before football games.

That was pretty awesome.

Pretty much agree :)

I noticed that some posters up here mention solo artists as well, so if I may, I can safely say I don't care for :-
Lady Gaga
Beyonce
Rihanna
Buckethead
Sting (solo, The Police were on another universe !:))
Ed Sheeran
Offspring
Imogen
Tedeschi Band
Eminem
Midnight Oil (a disgrace for OZ pop rock!!)
Celine Dion (Whitney Houston was waaaay better :)).

Other totally useless "artists" like:-
The Smiths
Maneskin (total garbage, luckily they're fading away fast !!!)
Lacuna Coil, 75% of their stuff (wouldn't mind a night out with Francesca Scabbia though :))
INXS (I only dig their earlier stuff)
Jim Barnes (pretty overrated !!)
Olivia Newton John
The Passengers
Later day Bee fuckin' Gees (the disco crap daZe)
(Unsurprisingly) Ozric Tentacles (useless)
Pennywise
Tame Impala
King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard
Sheena Easton
Later day Kim Wilde
MJ (75% of his stuff :))
The Disciples (Little Steven's band)
Lionel Ritchie (yuck!!)
Leonard Cohen (extremely overrated)
Tom Waits
Peter Tosh
Nina Hagen
Siouxie & the ruddy Banshees (useless band)
Cindy Lauper
Madonna (60% of her stuff)

It's all good. Idk how you don't think the arrangements in street spirit aren't good but each to their own lol.
Arrangements make ALL the big diff between a mediocre song and a masterpiece (I quote the greatest arranger of modern times of course DON COSTA -:eek::eek::eek::eek: Costa's daddy). To answer your question , first we have to define arranegements........can you ??????? ----if not, we would be wasting our precious time here :):):)

Well a proper arrangement would be rearranging an existing piece but I'm assuming we weren't talking about that as we've been talking about original pieces.

No, only original pieces, in the composing stage ! Arranging means practically making words fit with the music (notes) or vice-versa coz some composers first write the notes (music) then adapt the words (lyrics) or vice -versa. The difficulty in arranging is that the end result has to be as non-atonic as possible if you want to produce easy-listening hits which lose out in the end coz they're repetitive or just out-of-tune; on the other hand, if you want a more 'committing' end-sound, you have to be extremely careful on the lyrics/notes combo; in any case, lest we ever forget, more commercial /ezy-listening DOES NOT necessarily mean good music !!!! Know what I'm getting at ???!!!???!!!

I do but I have no idea how Radiohead would qualify as easy listening or particularly commercial.
