Big bands you never cared for...

I've never been able to get into Rush. They're okay and they can play but they don't grab me for whatever reason.

I'm not a prog freak myself, but I know a good prog sound when I here one and Rush represents that prog sound. Of course, ya gotta dig prog rock a little to embrace Rush to their fullest.

Yeah I'm not a big prog guy in general. I like King Crimson a lot though.

I get why you dig KC - they have that slightly psych touch to their brand of prog - I know coz I love Robert Fripp's lix on guitar; he wasn't monotonous! The best prog rock band for me is Atomic Rooster ....there are very few keyboardists like Vincent Crane my friend

In reality, the entire nu-metal scene stinks !!!! Luckily, it has literally imploded and faded away !!!!!

Off the top of my head, most metal bands to be honest. Also, quite a few of the 2000s "rock" bands like QOTSA, Killers, Strokes, Arctic Monkeys etc.

Other than those broad categories, Rush is one of the bands where I didn't mind a couple of songs but overall didn't really find all that interesting.

RHCP (have a couple good songs but I get tired of them fast), Coldplay, Oasis, Megadeth (just the vocals, really).

A word - if I may - on the people who don't care for RHCP....perhaps you are not listening to the right stuff by them....there's an "obscure" album (don't remember the name righ now) by this band that has been totally overlooked coz everyone's being dragged to listen to their more commercial stuff. I sincerely invite everyone to go look for this album and you will not regret it

I'm not surprised you didn't like it coz nobody does .. coz it's pretty psychedelic in its approach and rather diff from their previous albums. In any case, what is NOT subjective in music are the arrangements - I quote the greatest arranger in the history of modern popular music, Don Costa: "what makes the big diff between a mediocre song and a masterpiece are the arrangements" - ponder people ponder
