Big bands you never cared for...

I do but I have no idea how Radiohead would qualify as easy listening or particularly commercial.
It's difficult to explain, but this is the actual point !!!!! I know a few individuals who told me that, in comparison, bands like Khruangbin (just to name one) are "crap because they are not easy listening while Radiohead are...." - what I'm trying to get at is that if you like the fake-atonal Radiohead, but detest bands like Khruangbin which have remained quite underground, that's not exactly objective reasoning, now is it ????

I haven't heard Khruangbin but there are many bands that are quite underground and good, but not every band that makes it is shit.

..................and not every outfit that doesn't "make it" is crap either !! :).....music is art , not sales, cheap popularity, fame.

It's basically underground VS mainstream in the end :):)

I agree but at the same time I would argue that of the bands that had major label success Radiohead are probably one of the ones that took the most risks for the sake of art. They could have carried on putting out indie rock songs for years after the bends and stayed big but instead within two albums they'd completely changed their sound and risked alienating their fanbase (they actually did alienate a lot of them that preferred the more straightforward sound).

I see your point of course, indeed, it was their choice to go towards a diff musical direction all together. Probably RH dragged in a huge slice of diff fans.

It's all good dude. I respect you as a muso, I think that's why I keep trying to get you to come around to my opinion on this.

I never got the hype around Kiss, Bon Jovi and AC/DC. I could maybe pick 1 or 2 of their songs that I'd find "decent", but nothing they ever put out really blew me away. I feel indifferent when I hear their music.
