President Biden used his clemency authority Monday to commute the sentences of 37 of the 40 men on federal death row to life without parole, in one of the most significant moves taken against capital punishment in recent presidential history.

Biden did not commute the sentences of three men who were involved in cases of terrorism or hate-fueled mass murder, including Robert Bowers, convicted for the 2018 mass shooting at a Pittsburgh synagogue; Dylann Roof, convicted for the 2015 mass shooting at a Black church in Charleston, S.C.; and Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, convicted of the 2013 bombing at the Boston Marathon.

Politicians absolutely fucking suck especially potus at the end of their terms. trump pardoned a bunch of shitbags as well, but can’t say he spared the lives of this many murderers. I looked into some of the beneficiaries of these actions. Some, for signal murders and I am unsure why they were charged federally. Some were horrendous people that killed whole families. The ones that were spared killed multiple people but their actions were because of hate. I guess the lesson here is you can kill and torture children as long as they are the same color as you or you don’t have hatred in your heart as you leave them lifeless.

But isn’t there some stat that executions are super expensive? Google AI says it costs more for executed inmates vs life in prison.

Part of that is probably just special groups milking the prison industrial complex over bullshit when they could just use a firing squad or something

Dont know why he is doing it. Pardoning smaller things ok but pardoning murderers? Spit in the face of the victims and the family. Cant say about the special interest groups but for example a lot of pharmas wont give the prisons the poison so the prison needs to find ways around it. I think there should be some turbo process for death penalty cases where its absolute and there can be no doubt. Meaning DNA and and video footage. Only problem is the goverment that fucks up anything so not really sure what to do about these murderers without innocent people getting caught up in the mix..

For real. These families already went through the loss of loved ones, then the trials which must be awful, and then hopefully came to terms with it. This will just unnecessarily reopen that wound.

Like a father of one of the children killed by one of these monsters. Have already come to terms with it as best you can, only to wake up this morning and see this? That has got to suck
