I was just thinking about trying for a max on the big three at the end of the year. Individual PL Comp for Schweet year end PRs.

If I could bench at all I could have a total over 1200 in a few months. Not so sure if I crank that out all in one session. Going for that squat pr scares me, but I'd like to see what my form looks like with heavy singles - I know it goes to shit around 365. And I mean fugly.
 
yeah i hope to get 405 too. if you can do it maybe i can do it....how long are you staying in az?
 
Not sure, probably a little over a week. I'll let you know when we get it planned.
 
i meant more towards last day or so. we should try and max towards the end.

because christmas is on a tuesday. if you stay that whole week, it wouldnt be too bad to max then. maybe you could try your dl max a week before you come down. then try squat and bench max here. ive done squat and bench max on same day and didnt feel a difference.
 
Looking at a calendar now. I bet we'll be there from Dec 23rd to Jan 2nd. I'm fairly certain my wife will want to stay through the New Year.
 
dec 31st is even better for maxes....you can go balls out for teh weights and then you can get smashed for new years...

Yup--saw the contetst. Probably wait until the last week of the Smolov base mesocycle to do a minicomp then go for the new SQ PR later that week.

Hard to say on the cleans/snatches w/o seeing you. Show me a vid and I'll gladly critique it to the best of my ability--front or rear view obviously the best for judging width: front three-quaters good for overall lift. Anyway, I always tell my lifters to "jump narrow, land wide." However, there's a limit as to how wide. I would say start with your feet right about hip width for the pull and outside the hips for the catch.

Front squats will help for the cleans and overhead squats will help with the snatches. Definitely look into finding a coach if you're serious about learning the lifts. I know

After 10 minutes I tapped out. I blame the Phil Collins song playing when I gave. Who could put up with that? In and out in an hour.

CG Bench and Pullups = hard time swimming the next day.

It's hard for me to stay in the sauna as well. Usually i have extra clothes and sweats on with a hoodie over my head....so im not sure how i would last in regular gym clothes. maybe 10 mins like you.
 
Thanks C.Beeby - Sometimes I let the workouts get a little long.

I get antsy having to sit still in a sauna of strangers. I prefer a steam room, but unfortunately neither my gym or the community pool have one. They finally (my gym) sprang for doors for the shitter. If gyns attract bosu ball balancing, top heavy mooks; lap swim at the community pool brings out the freakshows. The women are normal, but 50% of the men are either scrawny serial killers in training or have major kyphosis and scamper around like little hunchbacks....Weirdness at the pool man.
 
i hear that. i've gone to ymca and la fitness long enough to find out most of the men that go there are fucking crazy and naked.

im starting front squats next week for 3 weeks. then smolov attempt 3.
 
Do it. Your front squat is way lagging. Shore that up and crush your year end goals.

I like 10x1 for working set. Go really heavy. I found my upper back was rounding by the 3rd rep doing 10x3, so singles for a few weeks and made a huge improvement, then I started adding reps.
 
yeah i could alternate. the pause squats are the only thing that stays.

i think im set for what i need to do until dec 31st....
