Movies Best foreign films

Also, TS, you're right. "Брат" is a great movie. It had a great soundtrack. And seeing St. Petersburg in the 90's brougt back childhood memories, LOL.

So what are best foreign films in your opinion?

I will throw some russian ones since i know most about them and will provide youtube links with eng subs

Брат/brother

One of the best russian films, has a legendary reputation in russia.

Films follows story of an criminal anti-hero and his adventures in saint petersburg (gta iv story was inspired by this film)

Heres the link to first part ,the russian company decided to post it in parts so sorry about that.

Recommend watching second film as well its not as good as first but still worth a watch.

Жить/live

Also one of the best films made there.Film follows a hunter who gets mixed up in criminal conflict. This is a very heavy film so if you want ligh hearted stuff this is not for you.
Main theme of the film is how far you are willing to go to survive.

Heres the link to the full film with eng subs

Дурак/ the fool

Also a very heavy film, deals with corruption in russia.Film follows a construction engineer trying to navigate through the corruption of officials to save the people of a building thats about to collapse.

Full fim with subs

Жажда/ thirst

A fairly unknown film but in my opinion great
Follows an alcoholic veteran of chechen war as he is trying to live his life after the war.

Main theme of the film is pursuit of happiness and what happiness is in the end.

Film is on youtube with subs but its quality is so bad i wont post it.

I will post more later since i have to go to sleep

The end scene where he got shot in the chest, stood up, and talked to his phone, and then sat down on the couch and decided to die was hillarious!

.

This film was a masterpiece, The Hunger Games was clearly inspired by it or should I say "Heavily Influenced" but rly i got no hate for the hunger games

Reservoir dogs is Tarantino's "City of fire" or why can't the hunger games take credit as America's "Battle Royale"

I haven't seen "Hunger Games", and I don't intend to either, tbh. And after Battle Royale, I don't really think I need to. :D

I really wouldn't see the point too, don't get me wrong it's probably a fantastic film! but i'm not really into films that inolve teenage love stories or any vibes like teen wolf XD

Haven't seen that one either, LOL

I only watched Battle Royale Because of Takeshi Kitano.

When I was a kid, Takeshi's castle was my favourite tv show, when I found out Kitano was in the movie, I had to see it.-I'm a mark for the guy.

Run Lola Run
Zatorichi (all)

Classic Godzilla flics
The age of streaming has made hundred of foreign films available in your living room, taking away the hipster-arthouse feel from these films for us Americans.

Do people from other countries not consider American movies as foreign films? From your point of view they are foreign.

Genuinely curious how this is viewed by non-Americans.
All our childhood movies up to our today entertainment are Hollywood stuff, so first thing that come to mind when thinking "movies" is american ones, before italian ones (wich usually are either boring shit or full retard comedy with same 4-5 actors)

Later i try suggest some decent italian ones

Some of my favourites that haven’t been posted yet.

bullhead/rundskop

la Haine

A prophet

Wild tales

Amores Perros

Ultras

Ichi the killer

weird to call non-american films "foreign films" if you are non american.
cause for me the best foreign film is probably Fight Club.

I always presume when people ask about foreign films they mean a film not in the English language
