You're not lying. Can you even get one with low miles for under $20k now? Crazy to think that 90s cars have shot up that much. But then again, a cherry Grand National is $20k minimum so I shouldn't be surprised.

My buddy is original owner of his, he has two.

He bought one brand new a drove it a little and bought a nother one a few years later to beat on.

He was offered 45 for his a while back and said no.

6.6 Litre on the shaker came with the weaker OLDS 403
The ones that said 6.6 T/A on the shaker came with the stronger 400 Pontiac.

Edit: also some formula 350’s of the era came with 350 chev, and some with 350 pontiac

They were super cool cars. I went to tech school with a guy that had a 1980 Turbo TA. That 301 turbo was a fucking dog, but I Ioved the design. The disco dash with the lights on hood cowl.

I always wanted to fuck with it, but her dad and her had restored it and wanted to keep it original.

I’d still like to fuck with one , and see what you could do with it today.

Yank the 301, shove a 389 or 400 in its place(the 301 is same block everything bolts up) and work the turbo.

I used to love the fuck out of them until i realized how slow they were for how loud and great they sound. Theyre heavy as all hell.

Different eras, I know, but it's hard for me personally, to get excited about a vehicle with like 33 horsepower/litre of engine displacement. That said, there are some older cars that I like the idea of, but I don't have the patience or skillset to own and live with.

The 396 was a bad dude, but the 427 powered ones were the real mother fuckers. Only hemi’s in a dart could really fuck with them.

I’m thinking most people had the 396’s because they were a little cheaper.. always thought it was odd whenever I’d start talking to some of them about which car they hated pulling up next to that’d be one of the 1st ones out of their mouth. Chevys were notorious for being easy to work on and modify and also had a good aftermarket even back then from what I gather so basically day 1 of purchasing them you’d be in your garage changing shit out or adjusting things, setting timing and so on..


I was born in the wrong era, but am old enough to not only have owned more than a few badass classics myself, but was raised around a lot of people that had them and raced too.

Just looked and seem the hellcat is top at 206 and new corvette is max at 208. Doesn't seem like they are really pushing forward if a car from 30yrs ago can keep up with them now and beat some
