Best American Muscle Car?

1988 Callaway Corvette that would hit 254mph.

They don't even make cars that hit 200+ now.

My old roommate was obsessed with this car. He'd get drunk, and bring this car up 3-4 times a week, good times.

Have a real soft spot for the 1969 Merc Cougar (Eliminator model shown) as it was my first car that my parents gave me when I turned 16.

All the current modern cars are going to feel extremely slow once we get used to EV's. There is just no way even the biggest engines can match the instant torque of an electric motor rocketing cars under 2 seconds to 60.

Exhaust sound will be the only thing they can't replicate. So when we're old and working on our 2018 cars in the year 2050, the entire neighborhood will look at us with contempt and disgust. We're gonna be the equivalent of the straight piped Harley fatasses making a racket everywhere.
In the late 90’s in Muscle Mustangs and fast fords magazine(or was it in ford power?) there was a story in one that was awesome.

Was about a guy with the last V8 Mustang on the planet and the government hunting him down to take it.

I don’t have the hard copy anymore and it’s not online anywhere that I can find. :(

But it was a great story.

Also love in a thread about MUSCLE Cars, most post pony cars and sports cars, not true muscle cars.

True muscle cars are Big Block Chevelles, gto’s, chargers not vettes, camaros and mustangs.

Do you like Corvette, Challenger, Viper, Mustang or Camaro, etc?

Also what Muscle or Americna sports care do you wish they brought back?

The Firebird?

Bring back the
Firebird/Trans-Am
GTO
and yes I know it's not a muscle car, the Fireo
With a V8
Cougar
Olds 442
Buick GSX
'Cuda
Charger but as 2-door
And the Cobra as a production car

1970 Chevelle SS 454

Boom

And I already own one too.

There’s lots of badass cars from that era tho. A lot of old time street racers I’ve talked to said the 69 Chevelle 396 4 speeds were a pain in the ass to deal with back in the day. And that’s coming From Ford guys, Dodge guys, and Chevy guys alike. That particular car comes up a lot.

Corvette and Dodge viper are the icons of american muscle

The car for porn stars and Astronauts back in the day all drove corvettes

How do you top that

I used to love the fuck out of them until i realized how slow they were for how loud and great they sound. Theyre heavy as all hell.

Id like one, but id be bored within a month.

A lot of modern cars are heavier.. and with the after market available for classics and the ease of being able to work on them.. it ain’t hard to make them faster than anything on the street for less..

Only recently is stuff coming out that my Chevelle would have trouble hanging with..

302 Boss Mustang!

Viper and Corvette are sports cars, not a muscle cars.

I will agree with the Vette but not the Viper. No one thinks about Vipers when muscle cars are brought up. Most people are picturing classic cars when you add the word ‘muscle’

And imo, the Vette doesn’t belong in that conversation but I acknowledge people think of it. The Vette is a sports car. A Chevelle, GTO, Challenger.. those are ‘muscle cars’

American cars - All superficiality and no substance.

WTF do you mean by "substance?"

A muscle car is just a frame, a body, a drive-train and some fat tires with NO FRILLS. WTF is "superficial" about that?
