Best Acting In "Django Unchained"

Foxx was lacking serious facial expression relating to certain events. Like seeing his wife in that wooden container. You would expect for him to show more anger in his face all while showing restraint.
Also how bout seeing his fellow buddy dead (Waltz) on the ground. No emotion, just took his wife realease form and said good bye.
Finally how bout the bar scene where Waltz was ordered to surrender by the town Marshals. As Waltz said follow my lead and don't make quick movement, I was expecting Foxx to showcase facial expression of someone who is scared shitless.

Denzel heck even Will Smith would play a more convincing role than someone who is supposed to be oppressed turn sharpshooter

Two things:

You're wrong about Foxx's performance. And, man, you need some spoiler tags above.

Genuinely shocked anyone is even close to, much less beating, DiCaprio. Waltz was great but he lacked an edge; he was just this side of really popping like he did in Inglourious Basterds.

But DiCaprio was fucking on fire, like a coiled snake. Electric acting, easily the most accomplished of his career and more impressive than anyone else in the film, IMO.

i agree with people saying all four- Sammy, Dicaprio, Waltz, and underappreciated Foxx deserve a lot of credit. BUT much like Bullitt, I am on board with the notion that DiCaprio gave the best overall performance. I'll be forever befuddled as to what high-ranking Academy member's girl he screwed to not get nominated because when you watch Argo and you see that Alan Arkin gets a nod for doing a fun job playing...Alan Arkin...and when you watch Lincoln and you see TLJ is probably going to win for playing...a crotchety old guy who doesn't take shit from anyone like he typically does...then you know that DiCaprio really got snubbed because he pushed the envelope, he did something different and he gave one of his most fiery performances ever.

Waltz was very good. Almost as good as his roll in Inglorious Bastards.

Dicaprio. I really liked Waltz, but I felt like his character started to fall apart when they got to Candyland.

DiCaprio by a hair over Waltz. Very close though.

Loved Leo and Waltz, but I picked Sam Jackson. He played what was by far the most despicable character in the movie, and played the part very well. I never thought that SLJ could play a character that I could see as somebody besides SLJ, but he was pretty much flawless. It was truly some of the best acting he has done in his entire career.

Leo was absolutely fantastic though, and Waltz was also good (but not as good as Leo or SLJ, imo).

Racists were exposed in this thread.

It's like IN LIVING COLOR'S "Black People's Award Show" where Jamie Foxx could only win an award as Scared Brother By the Watercooler. That's the only kinda Black acting Honkey America can accept!!!!

I picked Waltz over Leo via superior facial hair.

Or maybe Foxx and Jackson didn't perform as well and it had nothing to do with skin color?

Django is the least interesting main character in the movie, and Samuel L basically plays the only role he knows how to play: himself.

Waltz is amazing, but it seemed to me like he was just copying his acting from "basterds".

Leo, on the other hand, wow. It takes an amazing actor to nail a bad guy in a way Leo did.

Waltz is close second, Samuel L. Jackson third and Jamie FOx fourth. Not taking anything away from anyone.

Hey, Petey, how come you haven't voted in this thread, you heathen?!!
I can't fuckin decide.

Leo was an absolute dynamo in this movie. It was a breakout role, even for a long-standing veteran, because he broke type and played a villain, and he did so surprisingly well. He didn't just skate by, he killed the part. This was definitely the performance that resonated the most, at first. After repeat viewings though and in thinking about it, not so simple.

The acting was perfect from Waltz. That's what we've come to expect from him, agreed, after just one knockout performance in IB. Thing is, I almost feel like Waltz is being overlooked here, because we as film fans are already taking him for granted.

Sammy Jackson was the dark horse of the film, no pun intended. His performance got the least flare but was understatedly brilliant, and also a bit of a departure for him, playing a really old crotchety gimpy guy. Part comic relief, part dangerous snake, SLJ gave a layered, masterful performance.

Like I said, I can't fuckin decide.

waltz was money as usual, but leo went out of his comfort zone and left it all out. And didnt know james remar could be scary in a way.
