News Benoit Saint-Denis vs Mauricio Ruffy for UFC FN Paris, 6th of September

BSD has good takedowns and was clearly physically stronger in there. There's probably only a handful of guys at LW who he wouldn't takedown from that body lock position. But yes, Ruffy clearly has some work to do. He got pressured back to the fence more easily than I thought he would. I think BSD surprised him with the head kicks followed by immediate low takedown shots. Ruffy seemed befuddled.
yeah, i agree.

Ruffy was very good in the double leg takedown defense( he defended seven BSD takedowns), but he isn´t ready for this body lock type of takedown.

BSD was clearly stronger, but i think it was more of a technical problem.

Ruffy needs to evolve his judo/grego-roman type of takedown and how to escape fast if he goes to the ground.

Moicano on top or on your back is far more dangerous than gamrot on you. Gamrot is getting old now and slowing a bit in my opinion, where as bsd is getting better and finally with a legit team. I'd favor bsd to crack him enough on the feet and in the clinch to get a win. I don't see gamrot's cardio wrestling approach being enough to stop the violence that bsd brings for 3 rounds. Benoit has a 100 percent finish rate, and because gamrot has grape hands and not great top control, bsd would have plenty of opportunities to find fight altering offense
I don't see bsb mounting or taking Gamrot from behind with a closed body triangle.

I don't see either guy having much prolonged grappling success other than short lived takedowns here and there where they get back up. I think the striking would be the difference, and while neither guy is particularly a gifted striker, one of them is a very powerful striker, and it isn't Gamrot. These guys are kind of two sides of the same coin, just all the violent, fight ending aspects are on BSD's side. Gamrot's style is like the point fighting, less dangerous version. Obviously gamrot could still win, I just favor Benoit to find something big at some point and win that fight.

I feel like Gamrot would maul BSD, personally. Too good a grappler. He'd wear BSD out very quickly and it'd just keep getting worse and worse for BSD from there.

Would be praying the whole time that BSD whooped him though lol.

Gamrot couldn't maul a sandwhich. Dude has the top control of a fly and hands of pillows. Making BSD tired is pretty much his only chance, but I think he'd have to go through hell in order to succeed at making bsd tired, and in a three rounder, I don't like gamrots chances as much.

5 rounder would be a completely different story.

Aye, maul is probably the wrong word for what Gamrot does to people on the ground. Aggressive blanketing is what I should have said haha.

Regardless, I don't think BSD would hold up well in that fight. He makes an absolute ton of mistakes on the ground, where Gamrot doesn't make that many because he's too scared to take any risks. I feel like it would be a lot of BSD trying to power his way out of things, getting stopped halfway with superior technique, and then gassing out.

They should book this fight though lol.

I've just seen Gamrot struggle far too hard to execute that gameplan against worse grapplers than benoit, and I truly do believe Gamrot is slowing and Benoit hasn't peaked yet. They should make this match for sure. I agree.

I was extremely surprised by how easily BSD handled Huufie, it looked like JV vs Varsity practice, quickly paced and over before it even started .
