BATMAN V SUPERMAN Thread v.12

Seriousness is overrated

A little humor goes a long way

Superman is supposed to be the Boy Scout with a light heart meanwhile Batman is the brooding type

In this film both are morose and sulken deep serious emos

It's fine if people liked the movie, but you guys should really stop acting like everyoje that didn't is some extreme outlier, or has some personal grudge against it.

The movie had some serious issues, and from critics to fans most people are identifying the same issues with it. While it was not terrible to me, it was quite average. It had some great parts, but many flaws as well and it ended up being somewhere in the middle. I honestly really wanted to like it and to give it a higher score but just couldn't.

I'm a big fan of batman and superman too, they really should have been able to capitalize more on the two of them being in the same movie. Imo it's hard to argue that the first two nolan batman films, Iron man, Captain america, gotg etc. were not better movies. Yes this had a darker tone than most marvel films, that does not automatically make it better. The Incredibles is still one of the best superhero movies ever, and that has a light tone for the most part.

Maybe it was all the negative buzz and low expectations but I enjoyed it a lot.

I thought the film did a great job with the God vs human angle and why Batman is so paranoid. Some scenes were lame like the congress blowing up and Lex monologing and his stupid ticks.

Overall, it was competent and entertaining. Really expected it to be Green Lantern bad.

Iron Man is just RDJ prancing around, and then fights boring villains.

Deadpool is a good movie, but its light-hearted approach for a character that is not meant to be taken that seriously. Hard to compare the two.

Guardians is a kids movie, so again hard to compare.

Winter Soldier is hard to take serious. They talk too much. And too many stories going on. Cap's love story, Fury Fake Death, Conspiracy within conspiracy, Cap's long lost best friend Reunion, Big Brother/eye in the sky Gubment spying, Scarlet Johannson without makeup, Falcon just looks stupid with those wings, just way way too many frigging characters.

I actually just saw it last night. I read all the negative reviews, and was not going to watch in theatres, but I had nothing to do. I went by myself too, and there was only one other group in the theatre for my time slot.

I went in there with very very low expectations, and was prepared to be dissappointed and make fun of it on Sherdog today. But I was blown away by the visuals, special effects, and soundtrack.

The story is the not the greatest, but is decent enough to the allow the visuals, special effects, and soundtrack to work its magic. This is an action Sci-Fi at its finest. That is what the comics are. Thought provoking social commentary is not a criteria here.

lol. Maybe that's the key to enjoying this movie. I watched it by myself too.

Just read this article and it mimics a lot of my personal frustrations with the movie. As times passes, I think the big kicker for me is how easily some of these things could have been rectified. The whole movie reeks of directives from suits that had to be done and writers/directors who don't really love the characters or get them at all. Whats worse, theres a crapton of people in the industry who do, and have made stories and scripts that killed. Ugh, anyways here is the article.

Snyder is a Rand fanatic?

Well, that explains a lot. No wonder we got a Superman that was told "you don't have to help anyone if you don't want to"

Are you kidding me? That critic is "profoundly" (his own words) bad at his job. he is just grasping for bad things to say.

If some people dont think it is a great movie, fine, but to say this is terrible, then those people are Marvel Shills.

THISSSSSSSSSS

i've been stating this all the time.

- if you love this movie like i do, you are in the minority
- if you hate this movie like some in this forum, you are in the minority
- most people critics are mixed or think the movie is okay and most audience liked it.

Thats not what he said, he said because I didnt like it I am a Marvel Shill...and words hurt man.

No, that was more general. I was not directing that comment at you specifically but trying to spread that around.

BATMAN V SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE - Nostalgia Critic

First time I've watched their video and it's pretty entertaining. Only intended to view the first few minutes, ended up watching the whole thing. Definitely much better than the awkward Red Letter Media BvS review.

Ok, finally saw this damned movie.

As you may have noted, I've been skeptical about it for a long time. Seeing the reviews didn't help but I promised myself to stay away from trailers & spoilers as I did not want to hype myself up like I did with Fury Road and be let down again.

This movie was good. I didn't find that there were that many pacing/editing mistakes and only really 2 scenes stuck out to me as trying to fit a square peg into a round hole - Lois throwing then retrieving the spear and of course Pa Costners scene.

Other than that, this was a decent comic book movie and it did not suffer as badly from the video game effect during fight scenes like I felt Man of Steel did.

Ben was great as Bruce - we have to remember, this is not playboy Bruce, this is Old Man Bruce. I have to re-evaluate on whether I like him or Keaton now as GOAT Batman. There were, however, a few of these moments:

Jessie was also good - he served this role well enough - not cringeworthy at all.

Gal as stunning and I'm genuinely excited to see the Wonder Woman movie now.

I think they wasted a Bizarro opportunity with General Zod's body, but I guess for the purpose of series, they needed Superman to die.

6.5/10.

Because it had more than BvS. A lot more. And they were not put together as well as BvS because there is no central theme to it.

Not sure if serious. BvS was a unmitigated disaster trying to play catchup with MCU by jam packing waaaay to much content, characters and dialogue into a comic book action movie that's over 3 hours long and cut down to 2.5 hours and because of this the editing and cohesiveness is a mess and chore to sit through.

Civil War had a lot going on but it was well strutured, paced and had enough action thrown in sporadically where it didn't get too dull or blow it's load to quick in anyone one part of the movie.

If you don't believe me go look at the rottentomato scores for both movies. Then enjoy your crow.

Awkward and RLM are synonymous with each other. That's kind of Mike Stoklasas thing.

Woah bro watch out

Don't say anything bad about RLM or all the butthurt nerds will come after you

I was sitting down eating some Quaker Oatmeal Squares and I suddenly got an uneasy feeling so naturally I jumped on the Mayberry Lounge and wouldn't you fucking know it, somebody said something bad about RLM!!!!

OH HAIL NO

Wow, Jungle Book's second weekend was 60 million. By comparison BvS had only 51 million on weekend number 2.

Red Letter Media is shit when they're being themselves. Their weird serial killer character is pretty good though.
