Multiplat BALDUR'S GATE III

I am enjoying the hell out of this game. I enjoy the additions and changes they made to Act 1 so far. I am pretty close to clearing the Under Dark and starting Act 2.

I cheesed the hell out of the raid of the Druid Groove. I took the explosive barrels in the grove and move them in a line across where the Drow setup to attack the grove. On turn 1 I hit one the barrels with alchemist fire and killed everyone but the drow, 1 sapper, the ogre and 1 more goblin. The rest of the mop up went quickly.

Man, this game is something else and I'm sure has peers looking on in wanting to both emulate and bottle that lightning. PS5 preorders are now skyrocketing, reports GamesRadar+ here.

This game is freaking incredible. I'm at 35 hours already, and only on the first act. I'm scouring every inch of the map, taking on every possible quest. It's so rich and jam packed with lovingly made content, it's staggering.

Anyone fight the "old hag"? I love being rewarded for exploring like that.

The writing, voice acting, and production levels are top notch. Like From Software with ER, or prime Bioware with ME/DAO, this is Larian at not just their peak, but the absolute pinnacle of game development.

I hope more devs will be inspired by this, rather than feel threatened by such an "anomaly". I can understand an Indie team tempering expectations, but FFS, this is something every AAA studio should strive for.

@GearSolidMetal if you liked Wasteland 3, you're going to at least like the combat. It's everything we love about Witcher 3 and Mass Effect, outside combat.

@method115 I'm playing almost exclusively with a controller, as I've been going back and forth on my PC and Steam Deck. They did a really good job with it, must have been daunting. Zoomed in and moving your player almost like a 3rd person RPG really immerses you. It's not perfect, but the 3rd person angle with direct player control adds so much.

I wish every isometric game pulled the camera down like that, even if it's only an action cam like the newer Xcom games.

Yea, she's a green hag too. I got her low health and somehow let her live then regretted not killing her because to reload and fight her again was...unsavory. That entire thing was a pain in the ass starting with the red hat guys outside in the swamp that cast the illusion.

Does your char have an overencumbrance threshold in this or then item weight to value ratio to consider when looting? Curious.

Huh, the little goblin can literally jump out of her 'prison'.

Should I pick up all the companions or be selective like previous titles? Are there ones who won't get along like the previous games?

Count me in as a Day 1 buyer when this is available for Series X.

Hopefully they'll just release it sooner rather than later and do an update later for the issues they're having with the Series S.

Digital foundry had a great video on this. Basically going over what MS should do. There first point was to get the MS engineer team over to help which is what is already happening. If that doesn't work then they just need to drop the parity requirement. They brought up how in the past Xbox (360 days) tried to have requirements that later had to be dropped because it just didn't work. I'm honestly just more interested in what MS is going to do here if they can't get it working.

Shadowheart and Lae'Zel dont get along much and had a cutscene where one of them tries to slit the others heart until you diffused the situation.

However there is one that actually stands out if you go the true evil route by siding with Minthara the drow during the Grove raid and then having her as a companion. It also would mean that Wyll wont be in your group because hes helping out the people in the Grove . One of those two choices between siding with the goblins or the groove would mean the death of one of those potential companions. Im also guessing that having Minthara in your group means that Jaheira who I thinki is recruitable wont join you

Hopefully just release it ASAP with the promise they'll work out the problems in an update.

This reminds me of YEARS ago when they announced a LONG delay of Perfect Dark on the N64 because they were having problems with the co-op with the story missions.

For the vast majority of everybody that was just wanting to play the single-player and multiplayer it was a gigantic annoyance.

But with todays internet, I don't see a reason why there's a 5+ month delay for a console release of a game just because they're having problems with the online co-op. Its gotta be other issues.

Nah that's the only reason. MS has a requirement that Series S\X games have to have the same features as far as gameplay. Graphics can be different but game play features have to be the same across both. Imagine you and your friend get the game thinking you can play together but you can't because the S doesn't have the feature and only the X does. It will make things very confusing for consumers and it could put MS in a precarious position because that is not how the Series S was advertised.

Jez Gorden wrote an article going into detail about the Series S and apparently a lot of devs are asking MS to remove this requirement. Problem is MS can't the Series S is selling better than the X.

Yes, you can get overencumbered but you can usually just get your companions to carry some of the stuff and if you still have too much you can select "send to camp" for the offending encumbrance and it goes to a chest in your camp.

Damn nice so if your in the middle of a dungeon and you get full of items you can just send it to your camp?

Yea, you can send items to camp at any time. Due to the enormity of items, and if you are a pack rat, it comes in handy.

Love this. Inventory management is one of the things I hate in games like this. I just want to finish the dungeon/quest and then I’ll stop and look at all my loot.

Dude, the inventory management is insane. So easy to swap between characters and, like was already mentioned, just sent straight to camp. CLick on an item and theres a drop down menu and you can just send an item to any characters inventory, or to camp. Boom. Yeah, it may not be the most lore appropriate but when its this goddamn handy, IDGAF.
