Multiplat BALDUR'S GATE III

Starfield is overhyped AF.

*Its going to be very buggy, just like every Bethesda release.
*The actual gameplay & story is going to be lackluster.
*30FPS? On a Series X? GTFO.

In a year that's debatedly having its best releases since 2007, which gamers aren't just talking about what'a going to be GOTY, but also asking "Whats your Top 5 GOTY?" .... No game can have a lackluster release and still maintain credibility as a potential GOTY.

I get what you are saying about Bethesda, and its true, but its also true that sometimes Bethesda releases something that DESPITE its bugs, is still an incredible game. If what you are saying is true I don't see how BG3 doesn't win GoTY. It checks all the boxes and then checks some extra boxes.

With each release since Oblivion there's more bugs. The problem has got worse over the last 15+ years, not better.

As for 'with the bugs its still an incredible experience' ... I think the standards of gamers have risen over the years, and we're getting sick of developers & publishers excuses, especially then there's numerous examples of 10/10 GOTY-quality games on release day.

Like BG3.

(That said, there's a few bugs and performance issues on BG3, but no where near 'Bethesda bugs' and they're expected to be ironed out quite quickly).

There's a difference between a new minor flaws in the programing that'll be fixed.... and Cyberpunk2077 at launch.

I think I had the luckiest experience with Cyberpunk ever. I never at any point had a problem out of it, no crashes, no game stopping bugs. Apparently there was a small percentage of people like that and I was one of them. Game worked fine for me from day 1.

I've got a hot take. Outside of the story, this game is mediocre as hell. A CRPG being hailed as one of the best games of all time in 2023... yeah, I don't agree at all lol.

This game reminds me of modern devs making 2D pixel art games. Leave that shit in the 90s.

Is there a talent tree you can choose talents from? I just got my guy to lvl 2 and it showed my HP increased and an option to lvl up in another class, but I dont see a talent tree system.

No talent tree system outside what you get for the level up in the class/sub class you chose when you level, some multi class options are better than staying one class. Not having looked at all the options in this game but knowing there are some changes from tabletop harder to give examples. But paladin warlock, fighter barbarian, rogue fighter are solid choices.

Absolutely nothing is mediocre about this game. Great mechanics and design always come back eventually and win in the end.

Mediocre would be following a pre-determined story with a bunch of checkmark-sidequests and mashing stuff to death Diablo style.

To each their own, my good compatriot.

I'm playing an Eldritch Fighter right now, loving the class actually.

I've come to admit I've already put 100 hrs into the game. Only lvl 5.

as a "completionist", it's truly hard for me not to hit re-load and figure out every result, then pick the one I want.

This game will keep you for 100s of hours if you do this. Don't be like me.

Let alone options for other classes/races. Sometimes you won't know the true results until much deeper into the story as well.

Just started act 3, game is amazing. I'll never stop cracking up at npcs getting pushed off cliffs/into lava.
yeah that was my moon prison esvape strategy. It involved the guards being distracted by the cute kitty illusion by the edge of the platforms and second guy shoves him down while no witnesses around

I feel this pain. It's the same reason I can't do am Xcom 2 run without save scumming. It isn't because I can't deal with losing a soldier, it's because in the back of my mind I can never shake the itch that tells me that this isn't the optimal, most efficient path.

It's the same thing with this. I just can't shake the feeling that what I did was wrong, and my game is now worse for it. Almost like some sort of OCD

I made a goblin eat a worg turd then when I clicked on him to talk to him he had brown shit on his mouth.

I'm not sure you can even get all the results on one playthrough even if you save scum it. Some of this stuff seems to be class specific or race specific as well as an accumulation of choices made prior. You could probably play this game A LOT and still not see all the combinations of classes and sub-classes as well as decisions and reactions along the way. Larian somehow pulled off the impossible. 170 HOURS of cutscenes alone. That is outrageous man.

So not that far in yet, just a few hours. But so far I'm digging it a lot. It's awesome to finally see a D&D game with modern graphics. Bought a new graphics card last year and this is the first time I've really been able to test it out.

Loving how the exploration and skill checks work so far. It really FEELS like D&D. I always play a paladin in these games and I'm getting a satisfying amount of paladin choices in dialogues. It really feels like you can approach situations a variety of ways.

The opening was great too which is usually the weakest part of BG games imo.

How does everyone feel about this game? Is it awesome? We love it? I don't even know if I've ever played a BG game.
If you like rpgs focused on exploration and turn based combat, look no further this is probably gonna.be the best RPG in 20 years when it's all said and done.

It's not necessary to have a background in d&d they explain everything as you go.
