Multiplat BALDUR'S GATE III

look no further this is probably gonna.be the best RPG in 20 years when it's all said and done.

In the last 20 years? Its quite frankly the best RPG ever made. BG3 has, much to the chagrin of other game studios, raised the bar for the entire industry. Most of the time you can find something to really nitpick, usually its something like, "Yea, its a great game....buuut.....the voice acting is shit." With Baldur's Gate 3 it seemingly has no weaknesses. It has the same sort of fresh champion scent as games like Witcher 3 or Elden Ring in the sense that people just were not ready for it, like a shock to the gaming senses.

One thing I really hate is when you steal or pickpocket something successfully, it's immediately noticed by someone passing by or the person you picked.

I rifled through a dead person's pockets only to have someone walk by, notice, and then immediately know it was me. Or pick a persons pockets and then a few seconss later they realize not only that its gone but who did it. Seems like a really odd design for a game that's foundations are so rooted in open ended variance.

should i gte this now....or wait for ps5? wanna play it and looking forward to it as a dnd stan but afraid my pc wont handle it

Depends on your rig. It can get pretty demanding. Not sure how scaleable it it is when you lessen the load with lower settings.

But PC is gonna have insane mods.

Well didn't wanna oversell a game I've only played a little bit but yeah... it's looking pretty damn good lol. When the main issue is just getting enough time to play you know a game is good.

With my Rog/Thief I've never pickpocketed anyone successfully then had them realize it and pin it on me.

Thats my main concern. Im still running a ryzen 1700x and rx580 8gb and 16gb ram rig.

I dunno. Its happened to me every time, but Im not a rogue main so Im not doing it constantly.

I'm not a Rog main either but I keep Astarion in the group and his sub-class is Thief. He can pretty much pick anything and I use him for pickpocketing but if he succeeds I've never seen anyone realize he did it.

It's happened to me a bunch of times. Picked a key off the druid guy (ratha?), picked some random stuff off a dead body and somebody walked by and noticed after I had walked away. I remember I picked something off one of the goblin guards and then a few seconds later they noticed it was missing and questioned me.

I didn't try many other times because of that. So maybe I'll give it another go.

Well the dead body thing is a different check, but I will say most of the pickpocketing I've done has been while the rog was stealthed. It could be I've just been lucky so far.

That's above min specs...3600's are pretty inexpensive these days unless you're planning of a bigger upgrade will help prolong it.

So I decided to pick up BG3 after hearing nothing but great things about it and so far about 7 hours in and I'm floored at how great this game is. I only just finished the Goblin/Druid conflict and man the freedom the game gives you to just do whatever you want is staggering. I had never played a layering Studios game before and knew nothing about Baldur's Gate before it released and that is definitely adding to my enjoyment just not knowing anything the best way to play any game imo. This is the game I've been wanting to play for so long but never knew it existed until now.

Bladur's Gate 3 has once again broken its record for concurrent players. Yesterday it hit a peak concurrent players of 875,343. Its previous peak was 814,000 so this is a significant jump of over 60,000.

Video for anyone interested.

If you finished the Druid/Goblin conflict in 7 hours you are probably missing a lot of stuff. I think I was over 20 hours before I even went to the Goblin stronghold. That whole map you are on is Act 1. Once you leave to Act 2 you kinda are just leaving behind everything you didn't do or see or get. Just a fair warning if you want to reveal the map and see whats there.

I had a feeling. I've pretty much just been following those main story beats while not talking to everyone I can. I don't want to do EVERYTHING possible I can do but at least do a few side quest here and there as I progress in a more natural way. My entire map of that entire area is still pretty dark so I'm sure I'm missing a lot. I found other areas and have just left with the idea of coming back later. Thank you for the heads up tho. I did the conflict to give me a good sense of how the game is and will probably just explore around more now. If I locked myself out of anything by doing it this way that is the beauty of a game like this. Just gives me a reason to come back for another playthough.

Based on the time you gave of 7 hours, I would guess you've missed upwards of 75% of the Act, if you're lucky only 50%. I would warn against skipping too much because if you go to Act 2 at only something like level 3 or 4, life could get difficult for you.

It's crazy to think I've missed that much content just by staying on the story path really. Like I said most of my map is still dark and I seen a few areas that I just decided to go back to later. I just wanted to get into a spot in the story where I felt comfortable to start diverging for side quests. Kind of like in Skyrim how once I would kill my first dragon and be summoned by the Greybeards, I use that as a point to just stop playing the main quest and to start doing all the side quests. The Goblin/Druid conflict kind of felt like that point for me. Getting my toes wet into what kind of content I'm up for so to speak as this is my first Larian Studios game.

Baldur's Gate 3 is now the Best Game of ALL TIME on PC

It's so cool how well this is doing, despite having zero DRM. You can actually launch the game without Steam running. This really pushes back against all that crippling denuvo crap publishers stick in their games.

It's fitting that BG3 and Disco Elysium are 1 and 2. Disco was the best representation of a D&D campaign for me, prior to BG3.

I can't get over how stellar this game is. It's hands down the best true role playing game I've every played.

I'm about to enter phase 2 of Act II's main boss. What an epic battle leading to him, there must have been 50 characters in that frenzy. I was worried about this being a slog, the battles zip by!

The only thing I don't like like about it is the weak character customization, and not being able to make other party members from scratch. Hopefully they add the latter in future updates. I don't care for the first playthrough, as I absolutely love the party members, their backstories, and voice acting, but being able to create our buddies would make replayability that much more fun. I'm sure mods will fix that, if they already haven't.

For customization, they really should have used sliders and limited our face time in cutscenes. 90% of the time my guy either looks constipated, retarded or incredibly sarcastic. It was the same issue with Dragon Age Origins. I like the mute protag, but you can't give them so much screen time. Their muted responses with those bizarrely animated expressions really stand out against the amazing animations and voice work of all the characters throughout the game.

They really should have let us look up when zoomed fully in too. The environments and structures are so beautiful, it's a shame we rarely get to see them fully.
