This. Leon's headkick on Usman was a one-off, mostly the guy loses focus in almost every fight, and if it's not Nate rocking him with a slap in the 5th, then Leon will shoot a takedown or 2 on better grapplers only to get submitted.

It's not a marquee win ever, but especially not in the last 4 years

Islam is the only guy to do what BJ did. I've long considered BJ the 55 GOAT and I was content to keep it that way... until someone else won gold at 170 as the 155 champ.
Islam did it. Couple that with having the record for defenses, as well as having as close to a maxed out skillset, it's pretty undeniable that Islam is 55 GOAT at the very least.

However, I can definitely see why ppl consider MM to be his stiffest test. If he fights Usman next that'd be a bit of a farce. But so far, he's run through everyone they've put in front of him. The ducking talk is unserious imo. Ilia is ducking Arman. Brady and Belal need to run it back.

"Bad matchmaking" lol it was in Brady's best interest to stay active, he probably would've clinched the title shot if he had won.

The UFC was not going to give him the next title shot in 2026 if he just sat on the couch waiting around after his win over Edwards in March 2025. He did the right thing staying active, it just didn't work out for him. Nobody is at fault.

Stupid matchmaking is letting Topper get an immediate title shot at LW before he's had any title defenses.
This became a domino effect.

Islam wouldn't move up to WW
Brady wouldn't fight Morales
JDM wouldn't fight Islam
Morales would fight Leon Edwards
Belal wouldn't fight Ian Garry
Carlos Prates gets matched up against Sean Brady
Ian Garry gets the title shot against JDM

What's so interesting about the matchup? Islam likely stays on the outside stuffing takedowns and eventually lands a big shot on Brady. I highly doubt Brady takes him down and subs him and that's his only avenue to a victory it seems.

Brady also looked like an amateur against Morales. Morales is massive, Hits insanely hard and has shown perfect take down defense so far. Islam fighting up a weightclass against a giant with Morales's strengths is much more intriguing imo.
