Of course he does. This isn’t Anderson vs Forest... not even close. Izzy is not prime Anderson and Jan ( unlike Forest) hits like a truck. Yea, ultimately I believe that Izzy will be too fast but the gap is way closer than many think and anything can happen in mma. Jan has more than a punchers chance.

He can win and really probably should. Adesanya however will be fast and slick enough to avoid a lot of damage and do enough to outpoint Jan. Jan's coaches will be key in this if they prepare him a gameplan to best counter and shutdown Adesanya. Jan in the early rds should try to win those to put the pressure on Izzy. Win those and later Izzy will have to take more chances to get back in it if he feels he is behind.

Jan has 2 good rds in him. Izzy has a great chin an is getting a great stand up defense. He cant matrix quite like Anderson but he doesnt suck.

Just dont think Jan can hit him clean if both fresh n Izzy has s nice TDD as well.

It could go like the Adesanya vs Romero fight, although Jan doesn't fight like Romero.

Israel has the advantage in striking, speed, accuracy, timing, height, and reach.

Jan has the advantage in power, strength, durability, grappling, and likely weight. I think he is better when it comes to fully utilizing MMA.

Both have a good amount of experience, although Jan has more experience fighting in the 205 division. Both should have enough cardio for 5 round fight, although I'd expect Jan to slow down more.

It's really a pick em fight.

Of course he does. He's an excellent fighter, is larger, has tons of power, and will get to fight in the one phase where he possesses his best skills.

good thread to remember : many people think Jan is underated, let's see if they still think the same when Israel makes it look easy. I don't underestimate Jan, but stylisticaly Adesanya is a nighmare match up for him, that's it, there are levels to this. 25/8.

When Adelsanya fought Vittori, he won only cause ref helped him by standing them up. Vittori succeeded with some nice takedowns.

Now Jan is heavier and slower, provided he can score a takedown, he will transition faster on the ground...

If Adelsanya does enough to stall on the ground and ref stands them up after 1 second of "inactivity", it will be crap.

Rooting for Jan, but this fight depends a lot on the ref.

I think people are overlooking Jans biggest strengths here. Look at his wins post-Gustafsson and you’ll find that he doesn’t win because he’s a devil on the ground or because he has “polish power”. He simply has a very good sense of what he needs to do in order to win. If you only look at Jans attributes he shouldn’t even be in the UFC, yet he is a champion.

Izzy should of course be the favorite, but he can be figured out just like everyone else

Anyone can be figured out like you say, but with Izzy it's exceedingly difficult. His feints and movement are next level.
