Average age of topurias opponents

It's not a strategy, it's just the results of facing the guys at the top.

It's not like he has a younger interim champion that he refuses to fight.

To get to that position, he had to beat other younger fighters.

When he faced Bryce Mitchell, Bryce was 15-0, 5-0 in the UFC. 28 years old.

Had Bryce won, he would have been the one getting a number one contender fight.

Also, Volk and Holloway have beaten pretty much everyone else at FW who had the same opportunities, and Volk beating Lopes in his last fight shows that he still got it.
Fair enough

But Arman is the only guy in the top 10 who's younger than 30, in a division where everyone craps out by 35

IMO half of the top 10 have about a year of fighting left in them, including da Bronx, Gaethje, Poirier, Hooker and Holloway

Illia's timing is perfect

Also, I appreciate your response

And his fight before that was 38, and the young guy of the group was 33 and almost 6 years removed from being champ and holds the record for most times getting hit in the UFC.

Beating big names who are on the decline is without a doubt the best way to build your own name. You get the most credit for beating them when they aren't necessarily the toughest fights, you have the most footage of them, including footage of them losing, and whatever holes you see are a lot tougher for them to fix that late in their career.

Thinly veiled JBJ nuthuggery

That's really not as important as number of fights/camps which equates directly to wear n tear and decline of physical performance.

Average number of fights for JBJ opponents is 28.

Jones 28th fight was Dominick Reyes. His worst performance by gar against his 2nd to weakest opponent
you believe oliviera at 35 volk and max doesnt have alot of wear and tear?hmm

you also believe fighters doesnt have a bad day where they perform their worst?

jones still wins at his worst
but fedor and gsp gets beaten up strangled and ko'd

now dont hate me .just hate facts

The wear and tear doesn't sound very credible if they are performing at an elite level. Can you say Max Holloway is broken down at 32 years old, when he had destroyed Gaethje around the same time? There isn't really any evidence of it.

The top LWs have beaten back the younger contenders, like Poirier vs BSD, Gaethje vs Fiziev x2, then 35 year old Moicano even put a brutal beating on the younger BSD.

Even Bobby Green KO'd Grant Dawson when he was undefeated in his first 9 UFC-fights.

Also, Merab is 34 and is racking up title defenses at BW, beating up younger guys.

Pantoja is 35 and is racking up title defenses at FLW.

Usman, who is 37-38, recently beat up and coming Buckley who was on a 5 fight winstreak at WW.

Belal became champ last year at 36 and lost a somewhat competitive title fight to JDM.

Volk is turning 37 this year and recently beat Lopes for the vacant title at FW.

There's also nothing to suggest that Volk, Max, or Charles have been falling off a cliff performance-wise just because Ilia beat them.

Even Emmett, who was 38 when Ilia beat him, then came back and KO'd 29 year old, 16-1, Bryce Mitchell in his very next fight.

There is the same trend in football, that athletes who live a disciplined lifestyle nowadays are able to perform to an elite level at an older age than before, like Cristiano Ronaldo.

Tldr; 35 is not ancient anymore in the UFC, even at lower weightclasses.

How many fights does Charles have?

You're literally the one that hates the fact that the average # of fights of Jon's best wins is 28. The same number when he clearly was past his own prime.

Cooe more though. Its always entertaining

jones has fought like 18 title fights?
you think those 18 title fights are easy?

title fights against the best of the best is always harder

ok sounds like when jones beats big name fighters when he fought them
fair enough
