Fair enoughIt's not a strategy, it's just the results of facing the guys at the top.
It's not like he has a younger interim champion that he refuses to fight.
To get to that position, he had to beat other younger fighters.
When he faced Bryce Mitchell, Bryce was 15-0, 5-0 in the UFC. 28 years old.
Had Bryce won, he would have been the one getting a number one contender fight.
Also, Volk and Holloway have beaten pretty much everyone else at FW who had the same opportunities, and Volk beating Lopes in his last fight shows that he still got it.
But Arman is the only guy in the top 10 who's younger than 30, in a division where everyone craps out by 35
IMO half of the top 10 have about a year of fighting left in them, including da Bronx, Gaethje, Poirier, Hooker and Holloway
