Eh nothing happened when Thor showed up in my theater. I think it's because we already saw Thor make his appearance in the movie where as Cap was making his first appearance during his scene.. I also think Cap just has a bigger fan base than Thor.

People lost it in my cinema when Thor arrived in Wakanda. I think it was because we finally saw the, "Ultron, we would have words with thee"-level Thor from the comics. This was Prime, Healthy, Motivated, Full Training Camp Odinson with, That Look in his eye.

That's what makes Thanos so special; he's not a one dimensional Big Bad. There is real depth and emotion. He has some of the best lines in the movie. Hell, some of the best lines in any MCU movie. His conversation with Tony on Titan is another good example,

"Stark".

"You know me?"

"I do. You're not the only one cursed with knowledge".

"But you have my respect, Stark. And I hope they remember you".

Yep I also really enjoyed the scene with him meeting Gamorra for the first time.

I gave caps entrance a slight edge but I also feel that it had the added advantage of being earlier in the movie.

I loved the Thor and Guardians scenes . Watching this movie again with Doctor Strange I see as the Guy that chooses to make certain sacrifices including himself he knows how it's supposed to play out but he now has to have faith the survivors will figure it out.

This is exactly how I feel. I rewatched it for the first time yesterday on a flight, and that is the same way I perceived that scene. I think he knew that Tony would be sparred from Thanos' killing of half the universe, and is a big player in the Avengers reforming (as I saw with the Nick Fury Scene).

Also of note, all the "new" avengers died, none of the original ones. So in the next one, the original Avengers (Stark, Capt, Widow, Hulk, Thor, and I am assuming Hawkeye), can reunite. Tho Nick Fury died, he did technically assemble them.

I have liked most MCU movies, but this one is on an entirely different level. When I first watched it, I loved the writing for a comic movie, and thought the action was really good, but could have been better. However, when I watched it yesterday, the fight scenes were even better than I remembered, and matched the writing. So epic.

I felt that above all else this was intended to differentiate the two. Hulk literally just smashes when he fights. Pure reflexes, strength, and rage. Thanos tuned him up with some of the highest level striking, timing, and coordination ever witnessed. Even if he requires the Power Stone to possess more strength than the Hulk the more terrifying difference is that he is not a mindless beast when he possesses it.

Part of why I have so quickly gained an admiration for this movie when I didn't think that highly of it after watching it in the theaters is in analyzing it more closely I have noticed how much depth there is to it, artistically, and one way the movie achieves this is in how it contrasts Thanos to each of our major heroes.

Your whole post it great, but these first 2 parts are the best. I overlooked that opening fight scene with the Hulk also. Not just in term of the subtle parts you mentioned, but the over all visual aspect of the fight. It was very smooth, the choreography and action were amazing. In my other post, I realized I underestimated all the action in the film. Upon first glance, the scope of the film is a but overwhelming and I guess I was in sensory/comic nerd overload to take it all in.

Btw, the CGI in the entire movie is amazing. That fight scene highlights that point as well. So smooth and realistic for an all CGI fight.

There is a loooooong video on YouTube an unbridled Praise of Infinity War and it points out how special this movie is. The Russos were the correct choice for this.

Was gonna use this as an example of a great quote, and honestly probably my favorite of the movie.

We are having people over again for another viewing in my theater of this Friday, this time with the 4k copy, and I am beyond stoked. Will most likely have people over the following Friday for it as well....

Okay, this is getting annoying. You realize that if Cap didn't recruit his team and lead them to find and help Wanda/Vision it was clearly implied Proxima Midnight and Corvus Glaive were going to succeed in defeating/killing those two, and there wouldn't be any need for the fight in Wakanda because Thanos would already have the Mind Stone?

Cap knows where everyone is because everyone trusts Cap. Why does everyone trust Cap? Even Tony trusts Cap despite their rift; it's Cap who is hiding from Tony. The reason everyone trusts Cap is because he is hands down the most worthy leader, and people will always seek out that person. They all know he will do the right thing, every time, all the time, regardless of the cost to himself. That's how he knew were Wanda and Vision were. They weren't hiding from Cap. I guarantee you there are people in the remnants of SHIELD and the established governments who leak everything to Cap, too, because even though he is technically a wanted criminal, none of them care, and none of them would arrest him even if they could.
Out of all the special effects and over the top powers, the most impressive thing to me is completely capturing Caps personality, without making him super cheesy.

I don't think I'm ever going to get tired of talking about this movie. It's great to see so many people appreciating it on a number of levels.

This is like our generations star wars.

Agreed. It's easy to slip up and make Cap as boring as Superman, since they're both Boy Scouts. What Evans and the MCU have done is blend that part of Cap's personality with the fact the he's also a Super Soldier who will kill you in a heartbeat if he thinks it's necessary. They've managed to emphasise Cap's stoicism, loyalty and unbreakable personal ethics without making him seem out of touch and irrelevant to modern society.

One of Marvel's greatest strengths has been their ability to cast the right actor in the role. Evans, RDJ, Hemsworth etc etc have all been perfect fits:cool:

Don’t know if this is the right place to post this.

Does Cap pretend he can’t lift it? That’s the impression I got when I watched Ultron. It seemed to me once he budged it he realized he could lift it and then pretends he can’t.

If he can. Does this mean he’s worthy enough to lift Stormbreaker as well?

It's supposed to address the inner conflict in Cap that he doesn't truly know who he is.

I feel the same way. I will rewatch this until Avengers 4 comes out, then I can watch them back to back, over and over and over again.

Buncha god damned nerds in this thread!

Infinity Wars has been playing in the background at my place for the last few days. Wonder how long I'll get away with it....

Lol. I have a group chat on whatsapp with members of my family dedicated solely to “nerd talk.” IW has been the main topic of discussion since it came out.

I think he might be a war criminal now but whatever. I have to show these videos. It's required by the state.

I really, really hate that this thought is so pervasive, though you're not at all misguided. But Cap and Supes aren't boring characters and their stories aren't as challenging in their native comic book form when other characters can be the temporary focus of any given month's issue. This will never be clearer than in LONE WOLF AND CUB, which sprawled through epic storylines without being boring nor deviating from a very, very simple character.

Converted to film, the main character takes on the main focus and for some reason some writers have trouble maximizing the right spirit and tone, on a repeated and consistent basis. Even though every one grasps the tone and spirit: which is to amaze and inspire. All you really have to do is hit those two notes and there you have CAPTAIN AMERICA and SUPERMAN.

Their casting is absolutely phenomenal, and really adds so much to these movies. Also, they were smart to go with the Ultimates versions. Cap and Tony in particular got quite a boost in their Ultimates makeover. As soon as I saw they had cast RDJ as Stark, I started to get cautiously optimistic that these movies were being made by someone that loves the source material.

It's not even just the main characters. Blanchett, Hopkins, Close, Redford, Elba, Rooker, Goldblum, etc. These movies nail the casting from top to bottom. I don't think I've ever had this level of confidence in a studio.

IW was such a triumph. Everything my 8 year old self wanted, AND everything my adult self wanted, in the same movie?!!

Hmm. All 3 times i saw it, no one clapped for cap, and all 3 times they clapped for thor.

I dont clap.

I definitely missed out waiting so long to see it. Besides my sister and I, there were maybe 10 other people in the theatre.
