AVENGERS: ENDGAME (Dragonlord's Review)

If you have seen AVENGERS: ENDGAME, how would you rate it?

They'll have the Disney+ series covering Wanda/Vision and Falcon/Bucky. It would be great if they gave Hulk his own movie, but I don't know what's up with Universal.

Either Comic Con or D23 should have the lineup for the next phase.

BUt my understanding now based on what we have seen is that Falcon remains Falcon but just add the Shield to his arsenal. That is what all the art has shown and how I've been told it played it out in the comics. Current Falcon is pretty formidable, So i guess as long as the Shield is not too cumbersome than him having it as defense would work.

You guys are forgetting that he also has access to Wakanda Tech now too. Shuri could easily outfit him with a BP style suit to make up for whatever physical attributes he lacks.

haha europe1 is a movie buff, but not a comic book guy. He judges each movie on its own merits, and doesn't nerd out about the same things comic book readers or MCU fans would. I value his opinions. I'd rate Endgame higher than him, but I agree with him that Infinity War was better, and that the various tones of Endgame can be rather jarring at times, which is true of many MCU films imo.

I've never had any interactions with him, and am all for people having their own opinions on stuff, but I disagree with people that act like a "comic book movie" is something lesser, or that they need their own category.
And the idea that because a story came from a comic, it is something that can't be taken seriously, or that it can't have any real acting or moments has been proven to be incorrect by Marvel.

I don't understand why people judge movies based on what its origin was.
Why would a Scifi movie that came from a novel or screenplay be somehow better than Scifi stories that came from comic books? A good story is a good story.

End Game wasn't perfect, but there were some great performances in End Game from Evans, RDJ, Scarlet, Nebula, and Renner, and they were all earned. They weren't out of place. 20+ movies, and all the interconnected stories. You can't look at End Game as a single movie and get the full effect. It's the culmination of a story that's been going on for 10 years.

"Also, goddamn the emotionalism. Are they really trying to make us teary-eyed for freaking superheroes? That first quarter of the movie just felt stuffed with it."

There's a lot more range in "comic book movies" than its haters want to admit.

Problem is not every movie is meant to be watched on its own in a vacuum. Star wars was THE epic fantasy when we were all growing up.

Well by comparison this universe is FAR more complex with a lot more characters and plotlines. This was the emotional payoff movie. And so far most of the people that are saying they don't like it are pointing to all the dialogue and emotional scenes.

You're supposed to CARE what happens to these people by now. If none of the characters do anything for you and you just want lots of explosions, this isn't that movie.

I enjoyed the movie but I gotta say, am I the only one pissed they let Cap wield Thors hammer? It just doesnt make ANY sense to me.

I'm not HUGE into this universe but I do watch the vast majority of movies. From my understanding Cap is nothing more than a super human soldier science experiment. They gave him some serum or some shit to make him really strong.

That's all well and good, I'm sure it made him very strong and tough. But Thor is a literal god... his hammer is forged in a way that only a God is worthy of wielding it, is it not?

Thors hammer is about being worthy. Pure, honorable etc. If you meet the criteria you can wield the hammer. It's just a REALLY select group of people that can do it.

Yep I do tend to agree with that, I'm not seeing any fundamental difference between these films and say the original Starwars trilogy or Lord of the Rings which also took their drama seriously.

I can definitely see why someone less a fan of the series would preffer Infinity War as really the Thanos/Gamora, Thor and Wanda/Vision plots are all quite self contained dramatically were as End Game does focus more on not just following that film but also on the Russo's earlier films and Ultron for a lot of its drama.

Honestly my view is that despite there comic origin the better MCU films such as the Russo's tend to be much less "geeky" than is often talked up. The central drama in these films is typically driven by character not via making reference to some kind of extended lore as is the case for example in recent Alien or Terminator films.

I'm surprised there's a bit of a backlash that this movie has such an emotional core. I get that IW is the more fun movie to watch, but endgame would have felt really empty and shallow to me if it was just explosions again.

I thought it was pretty brave of them to make this movie so character focused. And because of that, I think it will hold up over time.
