AVENGERS: ENDGAME (Dragonlord's Review)

If you have seen AVENGERS: ENDGAME, how would you rate it?

Let me preface by saying this was a great movie, but I still had issues with it.

- what they did with Thor pissed me off. I didn’t like Thor 1 or 2. Started liking him in Ragnorak and loved him in IW. Then they do that to his character?! Make him the laughing stock?! Naw fam...not cool with me.
- I thought this was gonna be redemption for the Hulk. Although Ruffalo did a great job, the half Banner/half Hulk thing was meh. Him going full Hulk and trying to get some against 2014 Thanos would’ve been dope!
- felt no emotional tie to Black Widow, so didn’t feel bad for her.
- my biggest issue is the one that most fans will crap on me for. They continue to make Captain America too powerful. I like him, but they can afford to spread the love and not make Thor look like a tool in the process.

Praise time

- I love RDJ. He got the send off he deserved. He and Favereau created something special with Iron Man and seeing him go out like that was beautiful.
- the end battle is worth the price of admission. Seeing comic book style fighting on the big screen brought tears of joy to my eyes.
- even though I had issue with the movie doesn’t mean this wasn’t a great movie. Russo’s stuck the landing and it’s crazy to think this chapter of the MCU is closed...

As it was chock full of content and three hours long I’ll need some time and a rewatch to digest this fully. I’m not entirely sure how I feel about it yet. There were many “hits” for me (Cap using Mjolnir or the “Return” for example). But there were also complete swings and misses for me (pussy Hulk, fat Thor or the Iron Pepper nonsense).
 
The last hour was insane, Antman stole the show on this and Hawkeye was a pleasant surprise. I'll agree with most that Thor was a big miss, they made him a joke and it just carried on for 3 hours. The movie was excellent overall but my main gripe and it's a personal one is everything I expected to happen, happened. I wanted a full on shocking swerve.
 
I know haters are going to hate. But, I actually liked this scene quite a bit

They went too far with Thor imho, Showing him being depressed and a drunk early in the movie would have been enough. The fat and looking like a goof thing for the rest of it wasn't necessary and detracted from the tone of the movie.

Same with Prof Hulk. He should have been half feral and half banner. Would have been better than being a taller green Banner with more muscles because that's essentially what Prof Hulk was. Too much Banner and not enough Hulk. Also , aside from bringing everyone back with the Stark gauntlet he was criminally underused.
 
For fuck's sake! I'm trying to buy a ticket to rewatch it and I can't find a damn one!

Liked IW better.

Will re watch and maybe have a different rating, but a couple of things didn’t feel seamless.

That shit got old when the Russos had Schpeiderman doing it every single time they used him, and now I think they just wanted to fuck with me specifically.

PS: Why didn't I get to see Giant-Man do a fastball special with Professor Hulk? That would have pissed him off enough to hulk out....which should heal the arm. Godammit.

Same here. His absence from IW made it feel like he was gonna have some big comeback in this movie. But instead, they just fast forwarded 5 years and all of a sudden we have Professor Hulk with only a brief explanation of how he became that way. Hulk has always been underpowered and underused in the MCU.

That was a cool scene, but too bad they never get Hulk's healing factor right in the MCU. His healing factor in the comics has always been as good as if not better than Wolverine, but yet by the end of Endgame his arm was still just as messed up as it was after the snap, and in an arm sling of all things. Just a poor misuse of a very powerful character.

Yea I was disappointed that they didn't use Hulk more.
 
I dunno guys, I thought he movie was too meh to be any more than a 7/10
The movie felt like it was jamming its SJW views down my throat the entire time.
All the dominant male characters were neutered to need a female to save them, because girl power.
IW was a 9/10 for me, Endgame was disappointing other than the good performance from RDJ

She knew what goes on there because she told Quill in infinity war

Ending was fucking stupid lol. I'm happy Cap got a happy end but it made no sense to me. He should have been the one to snap it at the end.

It was really fun, lots of laughs, lots of feels. Good way to say good bye to an era.

The snapped coming back to fight was fucking incredible.

I am hyped for The Asgardians of the Galaxy.

More Thoughts.

Chris Hemsworth has excellent comedic timing and Chemistry with the Guardians Cast . Hope they use him in GOTG3.

2014 Nebula refusing help from 2014 Gamora was a bit of foreshadowing . You can see Gamora just wanted to help her and wanted that camaraderie. When Present Nebula mentions they become sisters and Gamora extends her hand it's confirmation that she trusts Nebula.

Captain Marvel Moments in this movie get no reaction from the crowd. 3 different showings at different locations. Boggles the mind that her movie made a Billion . CM has charisma on par with a Plank.

Perhaps the Brain of a Machine , knows one will have to make a sacrifice. Allows them to make their choice.
